Interesting topic about something I've been saying for a year now. But I was called a hater for seeing how they were hurting Canelo's career a year ago. Covid has made it worse.

If Canelo doesn't fight on September 12th that's 3 Mexican dates in a row he's missed. The one in May wasn't his fault because of Covid but remember we were 8 weeks away & he still didn't have an opponent. Last year it was a money issue. In May it was a money issue. Now it's another money issue

No argument the Canelo brand isn't as big as it could be cuz he doesn't speak English much, but I'd argue any boxing fan who's not aware of him isn't much of a boxing fan or lives in some mainstream boxing black hole area.

Canelo hasn’t been hurt at all by dazn. He has been the one choosing the fights and been trying to take even easier fights than he has in some cases. If he refuses to take the biggest match ups then dazn are well within their rights to delay and or ask for reduced payments in my view. Also don’t think this is only dazn Because you will find all the promoters and networks are doing so - not just in boxing too. Your very naive about how business works if you think everybody should continue to be paid the same way as pre covid.

To be honest, gift decisions and failed tests haven’t done his brand any favours either.

The majority of people outside of real boxing fans know him for losing to Floyd and robbing GGG. Some boxing fans may disagree but that’s the general public perception, like it or not.

Fury is probably the face of boxing right now and was also the highest earning fighter last year.

Did you reply to yourself purposely or forget to do it as an an alt?

Anyway, I’m surprised they did go for a deal with DAZN so soon but then outside of couple of fights, his PPV numbers were pretty lacklustre in reality. Given how much his PPV were generating, he is actually earning more from DAZN per fight, so no wonder they jumped at it. It’s not like there is a whole list of opponents that would make a huge selling PPV.

... 1) "Did you reply to yourself purposely?"... of course! (I don't have "alts")...

... 2) we all know that there were the DAZN people those who wanted canelo to sign with them...

DAZN rolled into boxing with loads of cash, seemed to be playing the long game, but their gamble hasn't paid off.

Overpaying fighters and coronavirus = your business going broke.

It could have worked but we will never know now.

DAZN is guilty all right for shooting themselves in the foot. Even though I'm a Golovkin fan they paid too much to get him and Canelo. Golovkin was clearly at the end of his career and Canelo generally won't fight unless he can manipulate weights or the opponent is old. Something like 350M for Canelo and 100M for Golovkin. It's just crazy from a business point of view.
