Floyd ruined boxing in America

I mean, I'm not so sure Floyd is as popular in the US as he appears. Floyd graduated that Mendoza School of boxing early in his career and it always seemed like Money vs The World not so much Money vs America.
Point A: Floyd by the numbers should rival Ali and Tyson in recognition. Go ahead and try that ****. See how many people in a mall or walmart or some such similar well populated place and ask about Mike, Ali, and Floyd. Floyd just isn't that popular.
Doesn't mean he's not popular though, obviously, Ali and Tyson are American Gods, so maybe he is still super popular and just not ubiquitous like the Gods.
Point B: The majority of Floyd's opponents are not Americans. Which is kinda odd for a US star.
I think maybe the world's hate for Floyd made Floyd. I dunno **** though.Comment

Why should ''popularity'' play a part ? Kinda worthless when evaluating a person's resume.I mean, I'm not so sure Floyd is as popular in the US as he appears. Floyd graduated that Mendoza School of boxing early in his career and it always seemed like Money vs The World not so much Money vs America.

How dumb do regular posters come off when they claim Floyd ruined boxing in America? You'd have to be an utterly ******ed inbred to claim the boxer who is part of the 4 largest PPV selling fights in the history of the sport, the guy responsible for the 2 largest gates in Las Vegas history, and a guy that sold more PPV's than any fighter (at a higher price point than any fighter) turned casual fans off of the sport.
What turned casual fans off of the sport is the same thing that turns causal fans off in every sport-the people in it lack personality and are not exciting.
Name another fighter who could sell 4 million PPV's in with an opponent in their 1st pro fight?
With Floyd retired, none of these so called "exciting" fighters can generate any sales. When they have fights coming up they still mention Floyd's name because that is the best way to get attention.Comment

Popularity is for beauty pageants and pop music.
Has no place in pro sports.
Either way, no one can touch May on the $$$ side of the sport, adding another reason to disregard popularity.
Popular Pac had the sport to himself and has yet to coordinate a big payday.Comment

I'm not real sure what you're taking issue with or what your point is, but, I will do my best to respond coherently. I'm just saying, if this doesn't make sense to you it's probably because you've confused my dumb ass.
Popularity is the $$$ though. Maybe I misspoke and used a term improperly for what you consider it to be, but the point was I am not sold on the idea Mayweather is very well supported by America so much as the whole world. He's a global super star, not so much an American Icon.
To the Pac comment, I think my first paragraph covers it...."Popular Pac" may very well be very popular, but, he's not as popular as Money...you can tell...you know...by the lower number of views and buys and stacks of cash.
My point was I'm not sure it's America paying his bills. Could be America, but, it seems like a significant chunk of that money comes from the foreigners.
Also, maybe I'm misreading you and I've your tone all wrong, but, it does seem like you're looking for me to be in some way disrespecting Money. I back Floyd as p4p atg goat...tbe. I'm just saying I don't actually meet fellow May fans and you'd think if we were carrying him I'd meet a few pretty regularly.Comment
