UFC will never be on Boxing’s level IMO. It simply doesn’t have the history or lineage.

McGregor is the biggest star they’ve ever had. Compare him to Ali. There’s no comparison.

No **** it doesn't have the lineage but its growth trajectory has been massive.

Conor may actually be forgotten down the line and the biggest stars may be yet to come which is pretty incredible to think about given how Conor PPVs have outsold almost all boxers.

Look at how many PPV's "journeyman" Jorge Masvidal is gonna sell tonight.

A boxer with his record couldn't sell out a elementary school gymnasium.

UFC marketing is a hell of a drug.

He isn’t a journeyman though, MMA guys are matched tough from the get-go. Masvidal is an elite fighter man.

How much are UFC PPV’s in the US? Is it similar to boxing prices?

He underpays his fighters but he is the only game in town. it's his way or leave and go fight for one of the other mma places that pay much less. boxing cannot do that with the WBC,WBO, IBF and wBa and lots of different promoters willing to pay boxers more to fight for them if they are being underpaid. There is boxing guy with the complete power over everything the way White is in UFC mma.
true he makes a lot of money from it but he also gives the fans the fights they want when they want them, more ppv more cash for him

boxing could have a mandatory unification fight every so often between the belts, whoever holds it has to do it or some setup to make the fights, im sure something could be worked out

A lot of it is match making; the top guys are always fighting each other. This card tonight alone would have been 3 separate boxing cards spread over a year or two. Also, there is a feeling that MMA is new, young, and hip. Of course boxing has the history(over 100 years) so obviously boxers have been more legendary(dempsey, ali, louis, etc.) but, as time keeps going MMA fighter will become legends in american zestiest as well.
I love boxing, it will always be my #1 sport, but it is silly to deny the emergence and staying power of MMA.

This is as big as UFC is going to get 'In fact I have explained in another thread? The UFC's peak was 10-12 years ago'.

UFC has not engulfed boxing, and boxing is still producing stars 'Even after Joe Rogan stated all of this'. LOOK at the date of that video, 2008 these where the peak years of Mixed Martial Arts.

'The famous people that you have right now, are the only famous people that are going to exist in the future for boxing. There will be no new ones, they will all be from MMA' Joe Rogan 2008.

I like your reasoning, and agree with you. If there was only one belt per weight class, an American held one of those belts, and the weight class was super middleweight or greater the American boxing culture would improve.
Americans also love gimmicks, big fighters, and national pride. We'd need a boxer that inspires fear in the hearts of the viewers.
America loved Floyd, but he wasn't like Mike Tyson whom Americans are infatuated with.

YES! Long time fan of both Boxing and MMA, I love Boxing More but yeah because of the way the UFC have masterfully Marketed themselves and they jumped all over Social Media and Youtuber early and built up a huge and Loyal Cult Like Following among a Young Demographic that don't give a SH^T about Boxing and consider boxing "SO BORING" unless KSI or one of the Paul Brothers are Boxing

11 years later...Joe Rogan was F^cking Right! Give him his credit!
