Comments Thread For: Manager: Bivol Not Chasing Canelo Fight Just For A Payday, He's Chasing A Legacy

Dmitry Bivol doesn't have to sell himself short in hopes of landing a dream fight with Saul Canelo' Alvarez. It just so happens, his current asking price is far more favorable than the demands of most in his position. The unbeaten light heavyweight titlist has repeated throughout 2020 his willingness to drop down to super middleweight for a blockbuster showdown versus Mexico's Alvarez (53-1-2, 36KOs). Such a fight didn't seem like a possibility prior to the initial wave of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, as Alvarez was believed at the time to be on course for a showdown with England's Billy Joe Saunders (29-0, 14KOs).

Offer to fight him in his closed doors fight. Give the fans something to look forward to.

For Canelo to fight Bivol or Beterbiev it would likely be Beterbiev at a catchweight at 169 with 5 pound rehydration clause which doesnt allow him to weigh in 174+ at fight night.

Then for Bivol, it would be an untelevised indoor fight where the only witnesses to put it on boxing record is, BHOP, Dela Hoya and Sulaiman

Lol. GGG fans creating new weight rules while PAC sits on the PBC bench waiting for PPV and GGG prepping for an ATG “160” drain fest. Talking about Canelo is actually a good thing!

Canelo wont fight Beterbiev at any weight but I could see him dragging Bivol down to Super middle with a rehydration clause. I'm not sure Bivol would stand much of a chance being completely dehydrated either.

That's awesome to hear. Just yesterday there was a story from Golden Boy stating that it's going to be very hard to put together a high profile fight between 2 champions (especially one involving Canelo with his purses) because of the amount of money needed and not having any live gates. So, if it's about legacy and not the money for Bivol, then I say Golden Boy offer's Bivol a cool 1 or 2 million to fight Canelo. Golden Boy have been interested in that fight before, so let's make it happen and see if truly it's not about the money. But I could tell you, it's always about the money...

Would be amazed if this fight went ahead at 175 with no hydration clauses.

Let's get one thing straight. Bivol is the one who has been saying that he would go down to 168 for a fight with Canelo. If he doesn't want that, then don't be saying it.

Here's legacy but we know the game. He is trying to age out Beterbiev, same BS they are doing at welterweight with Crawford. The fight was offered to him over 1 yr ago.
