How come so many people look down at the Cruiserweight division?

Cruiserweight is the worst division in boxing. It has no history. It is not as deep as those divisions you mentioned. Light Heavyweight is one of boxings toughest divisions. So basically if a fighter realises he is not good enough for light heavyweight he steps up to cruiserweight. It is a much easier division than light heavweight. When in cruiserweight the good ones normally step up to heavyweight. If you are scared or not got enough for heavyweight you stay in cruiserweight.

What would you have gone with? Super light heavyweight? Heavier Light Heavyweight?

Not seeing the issue, I like Cruiser and I think that despite the first coupla decades of its existence being basically prep school for heavyweights, the division has started to come into its own the last 15 years or so. Course it still does have the issue that the greatest talents will likely leave for the HW division sooner or later, so there's less likely to be elites who have long reigns, but that in no way means it's bereft of talent.

Besides what's the point of weight divisions in the first place? I'm seeing some people arguing that it's just a stepping stone division, but then why wouldn't you say the same about LHW before there was a Cruiserweight division or indeed any of the intermediary divisions? Aren't Super Middles just Light heavies who just don't have the stones to move up?

Far as I'm concerned the greater sizes of Heavyweights that came in part with the introduction of 12 rounders made it almost a necessity to have a division between LHW and HW, its just taken a long time for it to get established in the shadow of the most storied and prestigious division in the sport.

Ask me we do need a total rejig of the weight classes though, sacrligeous as it may be to some.
