Well he was having a great run and looking like the next big thing... then Gonzalez happened
I think the Gonzalez fight was the main reason of his decline
t's not like he ended up all battered and bloody in the PDL fight or against light punching Anselmo Moreno. the Agbeko fights were wars, though
but against Gonzalez not only he suffered a brutal KO, his confidence took a deadly blow
he took an entire year to return, was fighting bums on his return and never went for the rematch, he was never the same either. Gonzalez ate this guy's soul
a prime Mares would have beaten Santa Cruz, no doubtComment

He´s Mexican-American, who cares if he was born in Mexico. Speaks perfect English and grew in Southern California which has a very strong Mexica heritage and population. Strange that the U.S. lets these Eastern Europeans stay, like GGG and others without having anything to do with the country....Comment

Hmm! Very interesting; I didn't know that. The only reason why I thought he was a natural born U.S. Citizen because he always fought in America and spoke very good English.
He was one Hell of a fighter though back in the day; Especially when he used to fight with Golden Boy on Showtime.
I always dreamed of him fighting Nonito Donaire. In any case, thanks for the memo; It was much appreciated
