Does Canelo have a good shot here seeing as Roy dropped all of that weight from heavy?
Canelo vs Roy Jones Jr that got KO'd by Tarver. Who wins?

Roy in the second fight appeared to be fully recovered from the weight loss. He looked fast and crisp in the first round. Then Tarver changed history in the second round.
Canelo isn't fast enough to hit Roy or avoid his shots. Roy would rip him to shreds. Imagine a more brutal version of May-Canelo. Y'all must've forgot!Comment

I remember someone once saying that on the night boxers "know" and that you can see it in their face... this was about Ken Norton when he fought Big George.
There's only two times I've seen this, one was Calzaghe vs. Lacy (expressions on both) and the other was Jones-Tarver II (expressions on both).
I guess I could also add Fury-Wilder II to that, but I didn't register it pre-bout as it seemed foolhardy complacency going in.Comment

I guess it's worth remembering the dimensions of the fighters... Tarver would always have been a tough ask for Roy as he's a 6'2 man with an inch reach advantage on Royston "Roy" Jones.
Whereas Canelo is a blown up 5'8 middleweight with a reach deficiency of almost four inches against Royston.
Jones hasn't helped himself by fighting on for 15 years after he was shot, and getting KO'd by everyone and his gran, making a lot of people forget how good he was.
Maybe if he was instructed only to jab Canelo and then let him easily KO him for a payday, Canelo could have got the W.
And I'm not saying Canelo COULDN'T have won.. it's certainly an interesting question.Comment

And, Tyson vs Spinks.I remember someone once saying that on the night boxers "know" and that you can see it in their face... this was about Ken Norton when he fought Big George.

Probably, I hadn't thought of that (Bruno vs. Tyson II most obviously, too... not many boxers make the sign of the cross on their ring walks).
But I was thinking about ones I'd seen live, where that "oh, I KNOW who's going to win this one and it's not even started" reaction occurs.
As for the question, I did forget that at least one judge would have already filled out their scorecard for Canelo before the opening bell, so...Comment
