this whole record is predicated on CONSECUTIVE VICTORIES. valuev has a no decision. that is not a victory and that had to reset his whole winning streak all over again.
Why was the contest ruled a no-decision?

there is no record! how many times do i have to say that? when has don king ever mentioned that record? and if he has, did he mention the no decision in that conversation?

its a technicality. when valuev reaches 49-0 he will have had one no decision and marciano's record will remain intact. valuev will have to reach 68-0 for him to have had 49 consecutive victories. hes had only 25 victories since that no decision. you do the math.

im not entirely sure. i recall a valuev interview where it was mentioned and even he was unclear as to what really happend. i think in between rounds, something came up for some reason and valuev's opponent just up and left and got out of the ring and it was declared a no contest... i think.

even though it is a technicality, the promoters will still try to sell it as a record breaking fight if Valuev does infact run his record up to 49-0.

By the way, why was the contest ruled a no-decision?

That guy just screwed up everything for Valuev! Even though I don't really like Valuev it would be interesting to see if a 49-0 fighter could break the record. Last time that happened, Larry Holmes was going for the record and unfortunely was robbed against Michael Spinks.

See, I can understand the reasons behind the fight, but there comes a time when you think "wasn't boxing supposed to be about competitive match-ups once?"

I'd give him less chance than I would Matt Skelton... and I give Matt Skelton only three hopes of beating Valuev:

Bob Hope, Envelhope and **** all hope.
