Okay, it's just a fight to introduce Nicolai to the US audience (October 7th) but where's any sense of competition?

Sure, Barrett can be slick, though his career highs are few - managing to rock the Rock after 12 sophoric rounds in, IMO, the worst heavyweight competition of all time; and arguably being robbed against Joe Mesi.

In Barrett's favour he's only been stopped once, and that's against the world class Little Klit, who possesses greater power than the relatively moderate-hitting Valuev. But Valuev will have 7" of reach, 9" of height and around 100lbs of weight in advantage. Lamb to the slaughter?
I really hope however unlikely it may be that Barret wins and gets this hairy, ugly side show freak out of the picture.

Barrett was willing to give Don King future options on him. That's the reason he's getting the shot. Period.

King is a plague on the HW division. The only thing that may slow him down is the unification of the WBC and IBF, discrediting his two titlists against a unified HW champion.

So let's all hope for a quick fight tomorrow, no serious cuts or injuries, and then Wlad will take on Rahman.

After his November fight, Wlad will probably take off another 7-8 months before fighting again. While "the Rock," I'm hoping will fight one more time in 2006, against the winner of Toney-Peter. My point is, if everything goes well for Rahman in his next two fights and for Wlad in his fight against Briggs, look for them to meet sometime next spring.

It's amazing that in 2005 we had Vitali Klitschko, Chris Byrd, John Ruiz, and Lamon Brewster as champions, but none of them wanted to fight each other.

One year later and none of them are champions, and Rahman and Wlad of all people are the ones pushing for unification.

yeah the heavyweight champsionship has a higher turnover rate than white castle.

Who would have thought that such a complete makeover of the division was possible?

It's a makeover, but no improvement... still four so-so champs who aren't fighting each other.

I still hope that Klitschko will cancel his fight with Briggs and fight Rahman in December instead. There has been talk about it, all Rahman needs to do is win against Maskaev.
