I understand Bud's stance, however sitting out waiting on fans to return to arenas is a very high-risk move, when you're turning 33 in September!

Paulie said something pretty interesting recently:

“I remember when I was waiting for my offers for certain fights,” Malignaggi said, “the main thing you were looking for, under the [Muhammad] Ali Act, was what package the TV network offered your promoter, so that you could look at what your purse could be or wind up at. I think that still comes out as the most important piece to the puzzle for fighters’ purses, the package the TV network is giving. So, as long as TV networks are paying these types of packages, I think fighters should be paid pretty much the same, if not the same. Because you say, ‘OK, you’re not gonna have a gate. But your TV ratings should be higher because nobody’s going out.’

Paulie Malignaggi completely understands the psychological impact boxing before very few people will have on fighters that feed off crowds. The retired two-division champion remembers how important fans were to him on fight night – whether they cheered or booed him. That’s why the Showtime analyst acknowledges how eliminating fans will worsen atmospheres in a post-pandemic boxing world.

    Then reality set in:

Boxing’s return to ESPN not a ratings hit
    June 11, 2020

Many were hoping that with live sports still essentially on hiatus, boxing could pull some big numbers on Tuesday night when the sport returned to ESPN airwaves with the first live U.S. card since mid-March.

    It did not.

The Shakur Stevenson-headlined card averaged 397,000 viewers on Tuesday night, with a peak of 609,000.

Needless to say, this is not very encouraging, and there’s really no good way you can spin it, other than the fact that relatively speaking, their male 18-49 demographic was decent, but the total viewers are so low that it’s hard to even make much of that.

The card was frankly abysmal in terms of quality matchups, and the upcoming Top Rank shows on the schedule aren’t a whole lot better. Some are a bit better, mind you, but they also have no marquee names.

In light of that, Bud you may want to reconsider?

        Welcome to reality

Welcome to reality TC. Everyone in the world is losing money because of pandemic. Sporting athletes, business owners, actors & actresses, and especially the 14 million plus that are on unemployment because there aren't any jobs available.

And for peeps talking about 'cooning' and "show their skill in the ring".

Ali was not popular because of his fighting. He drew money because of his trash talk, his rhymes and his taunts.

Less people would pay to see Joe Frazier than Ali. Why? Because Frazier was boring. He needed someone like Ali as an opponent to get exposure.

          So that's one.

Two, if you're going to use the George Foreman approach and only rely on in-ring fighting, the opponents you fight cannot constantly be the B-tier. You also have to beat them decisively and without asterisks.

          Crawford is boring like Frazier.

Crawford has no signature wins at his weight class, and the wins he does have all have asterisks next to them.

So you can keep right on whining about Crawford's pride while guys like Broner, Tank and newcomers like Ryan Garcia and Josh Kelly leave Crawford in the dust on the way to the bank.

I can't stand when a man with a thousand kids barks about money and what he will and wont do. He reminds me of Adrien Broner nowadays...begging for $10M to feed the kids he really cant afford to care for when it's all said and done.

We've seen it with this child support stuff over and over again. Let that woman of his get a wild hair up her ass....she's gonna bleed him dry and he'll be out here in small venues past his prime for no money. Ask Evander and others.

If you have a house full of kids, you better fight! Nobody wants to hear what you feel you deserve during times like these. Everybody's been impacted.

Honestly, I didn't expect to see Crawford or any of the top names fight this year due to the venues not having crowds and so on. A lot of these guys' egos won't allow them to fight in an empty arena when in fact a lot their fights weren't selling like that anyway.

Again, I understand he wants his full guarantee and I can't tell him to expect anything otherwise. In the same breath, if they strip him of his title and he sits on the shelf, will anybody really miss him?

Sorry Bud, everyone in the world is going through it. We'd all like special treatment, but we're not getting any.

You can't ask for $10 million when your event is only worth 5.

You would hope that with this whole year pretty much wasted, these boxers would come back determined to fight the best in their division. They need to kick it into gear now because they are getting older. They can't keep calling out Pacquiao, he's already done his bit and is an ATG.

And just like that I officially don't like Bud anymore. He already showed his true colors when he lied and said that he resigned with Top Rank because he wanted the fight with Pac when at that poin,t Pac had already signed with PBC. Now he's talking like an entitled fool who can't really sell tickets and who's best win at age 33 is a past prime Gambia and is yet to get a decent win at WELTERWEIGHT smh.

And one reason is name Bob Arum. Bob is already making side money off ESPN that has nothing to do with the gate. Crawford hold your ground. If Bob can't deliver...exit the contract and head to PBC
Well that's Crawford's fault to rubbing shoulders with a notoriously sneaky promoter. NEXT!
