Comments Thread For: Crawford: Don't Try To Tell Me I Have To Take Paycut Because of Pandemic!

Have to take a step back and look at a list of things as well as make inferences based off assumptions.
1. If Bud is asking for MORE money then he's dead wrong. End of discussion. (I doubt this is the case)
2. If Bud is standing ground on the guaranteed contract he signed with Bobby A then he has every right to do so...it's a signed contract. Right on the dotted line. Thats how business works. I don't expect him to renegotiate his earned money- he earned it when he signed. Now how business also works when the boss can't pay and the employee won't renegotiate is either a lawsuit, or a RELEASE from contractual obligation should the employee opt for it. So the cards are in Bud's hands on this one. This isn't the temper tantrum Mikey "I See Something" Garcia threw where he had no leverage. Bud is holding all the cards here.
My Outlook
1. As long as Bud knows the demon he's signed to won't make it easy on him, and is fully prepared to deal with that then I see no problem here. At all. Make choices that you can sleep at night with. I wouldn't be so keen to literally take my contract and put myself at a disadvantage for my boss either. Neither would most here- y'all just hate Bud.
2. Any who would accept and cut their foot off to save Bob's business is a martyr. But if thats what some would choose to do, I wouldn't slander them. Everyone isn't built to stick up for what's right, let alone to stick up for themselves. Some people are afraid of the hassle. I can respect it.
Lastly. Bud should start hyping up a fight with Shawn Porter. That's an elite and respectable opponent at his level. It's also a fight fans have been waiting on- yes it's possible to want to see multiple different fights as a fan you weirdos. He should, at the same time, opt out of contractual obligations to Bobby should things go left, and sign with PBC. He only re-signed with Bobby because of the stability of a handsome guarantee each fight. Income over legacy- if you will. However, if Bobby can no longer fulfill his obligations, the contract is null and void for me. Bud isn't a Draw so he can't expect the same guaranteed checks but what he can expect at PBC is fights that will build his profile and potentially make him a draw one day. That's the PBC model- build draws and Earn your pay. Over there you get what you're worth.
They aren't overpaid, they just aren't being taxed the promoter fee- because PBC isn't a promotion. So fighters there pocket the extra money. A little knowledge for you racists, haters, and idiots. ESPN can't compete with Fox when it comes to Boxing, and Top Rank cannot compete with PBC. Men lie, women lie, numbers don't. PBC is the most talked about and sought after brand in the sport for a reason.Last edited by Ritz Kola; 06-17-2020, 03:05 AM.

Terrence Crawford have to think this.
Is better to work and gain some money and activity than not gaining money and inactivity.

Live gate is a small percentage of revenue for PPV fighters. Add to that PPV will be up due to no one can actually attend that will at the least in part make up lost gate revenue or even eclipse it. Crawford should fight a decent opponent if he wants to get paid fighting one legged fighters and taxi cab drivers while calling for top dollar is more the issue here

I mean GGG made 15mil for Rolls and people are complaining that Bud fought Benavidez. Bud made 3.6 and Benavidez got 500k. GGG made 2mil, Wade got 500k.
As you can see, no problem with Bud and his demands. If he wants to sit out let him be. He has a right to refuse a closed setting. All fighters can do as they please.

Unless Saudi Arabia come in for a Pacquiao fight (assuming Pacquiao wants it) not sure how he's going to see any action at all in the foreseeable future. And it's not as if oil is fetching a premium these days either!
Arum's under zero pressure to make a loss and his priorities right now are with Fury, Pulev and the 'undisputed.' He'll probably get matched with Brook for the UK PPV money with Brook taking a hit in purse and an even bigger hit on the scales.
But where's the appetite in the US and UK to see that? Personally I hope Brook doesn't take the bait and focuses on becoming a 2 weight world champ thus leaving Crawford out to mull over basic economics.
