I know in Mexico they'd be white. Quick gist of Mexican (as in the country) history 101. "Mestizo" commonly understood in the USA as being a mixture between European and Amerindian. Well in Mexico- after the Spanish loss their position as a global superpower AKA really good at invasions murder and ****...they also loss control of their colonies. FYI Spain colonized MOST of the Americas. Mexico included. What happened here during uprisings, and reforms was: The Mexican Government decided to DROP racial identification and unite the country under one banner. Creating a strong bond. A stable country. Thus the "mestizo" movement was started and encouraged by the government itself. While it obviously included actually half and half blood born Mestizo's...This movement said that ANY Mexican person born in Mexico could adopt the Mestizo banner, as a new identification for their heritage. Regardless of whether they were full European or full Amerindian. And it worked. This was over a century ago. So do the math on the effects of the mindset and way of life this would have in each generation. And now we're in 2020. This is why you see pale white Mexicans looking like Canelo(people with Mexican heritage) claiming they're Aztecs and Mayans running around California.
To juxtapose this- The USA was completely AGAINST racial mixing and assimilation between races. Mixed children were still considered "disgusting" by the US government (whites) and large majority of the citizens here (also white).
So Ryan and Oscar would either claim white, or mestizo- BUT with the colorism thing in effect- they'd be valued and cherished as white men in Mexico.
Mestizo is a mixture of dna, however in Mexico it doubled as a "this our country" identification for unity.
9:47 I forgot. The whole mestizo movement Obviously Excluded Blacks from it.
9:48 So the modern day erroneous assumption across the USA that "Mexicans are mixed" stems from over a century of the mestizo movement in effect + the education and reason behind the movement and term either not being taught or being forgotten + racism DARKER Mexicans faced when immigrating to the USA during the 20th century. However, the truth is white Mexicans have been entering and exiting America without much issue for centuries. It was never an issue of racism that they faced here. As of recent decades the bad blood most white Mexicans experienced here comes from illegal immigration- in which case every illegal Immigrant goes through it. I'd have to argue NONE got it worse than Haitians did in Florida. They were BEAT/deported or murdered. Florida was still in its heavily racist "phase" and looked at Haitians as "more Blacks coming eww no thanks." Funnily enough, cubans were allowed in spades. By the boat load. And that racism Black Haitians received, the White cubans did not. Florida THEN experienced the worst cartel wars to ever hit the United States by way of those same cubans. Karma.
Mexico is just as diverse as the United States you go to cities like Monterrey and Guadalajara and people look more like Carlos Cuadras and Canelo than Miguel Berchelt and Luis Nery. But if you go to places like Chiapas then they all tend to be more Mayan looking but the majority of Mexico is mestizo the Spanish weren't the only ones to colonize Mexico either the French did as well and plenty of waves of immigration occurred from all types of countries ranging from the Middle East to Northern Europe.Comment

Yup. More than likely Vergil would be assumed as a middle to low class Mexican. (Eye test). While Canelo and Ryan would be assumed to be from upper/wealthy families. Because the ruling elite were ALL white to begin with, in Mexico. Just like any other colony- whites set themselves up as the elite.Comment

While I doubt it, considering his fighters tend to eat very good and are all very happy with him, I wouldn't rule out that being the case for some. I doubt they're the ones we all know and love thoughComment

I get what your saying but it's not 100% accurate the first president of Mexico was half black and so are a lot of people off the Caribbean coast still (Tamaulipas, Vera Cruz, Tabasco, Campeche, Yucatan, etc.) they just identify with Mestizo because they are mixed with indigenous blood and can sometimes pass for Indians due to generations of intermixing.

I'm glad you read. But you're mistaken. Mexico had various Heads of State. On the the Fifth iteration of some form of Head of State government- Vincente Guerrero was the 2nd president. Not the first. He also was not Half Black. We don't actually know what % of dna was Afro in him. He was simply Afro-mestizo. A mixture, and due to Afro genetics being so dominant it was obvious he had Black blood in him. Just like its obvious when I see some Dominican (republic) chicks. He was also ousted from presidency in under a year due to the same racism I spoke of earlier. They feared his Amerindian roots and approval would make him too powerful. "They" being fellow "comrades, WHITE Mexicans...Vincente was betrayed. He was adamantly against racism and tried his best to curve it prior to this happening though.
Mexico is just as diverse as the United States
I agree and I say this all the time...people don't know the difference between a "country" and a "race." That was actually my point in having this discussion- being Mexican isn't a race- it's a nationality. Same rules apply as being "American."
Mexico either the French did as well and plenty of waves of immigration occurred from all types of countries ranging from the Middle East to Northern Europe.
Don't forget the Great filipino migrations to Mexico- which would be the equivalent of the Chinese migrations to the USA!!! Glad I can talk history with you. You did good just a few hiccups. Although I suspect you were secretly just agreeing with me lol. Do remember I was giving a "gist" of Mexican history.Comment

I don't usually support Oscar but he and his associates are right in canning Ryan's ass. Please prolong it. I like the kid too.
What happened here is this: Ryan not only complained about his pay, he also spoke in violation of his new contract. He wanted his "own direct line" to DAZN, instead of resolving the money issue with his promoter, Golden Boy. Ryan isn't at a level close to that. I was surprised how patient GBP was. I mentioned this last week.Last edited by BoxingIsGreat; 06-16-2020, 12:08 AM.Comment
