Comments Thread For: Joshua: I Got Beaten To A Pulp; But I Believe I'll Go Down As This Generation's Great

Nearly a year later, Anthony Joshua still won't try to rationalize what Andy Ruiz Jr. did to him in their first fight. The British superstar simply attributes his poor performance to Ruiz being the better man in that unforgettable upset at Madison Square Garden in New York. England's Joshua was more than a 20-1 favorite over Ruiz, but a resilient Ruiz got up from a third-round knockdown, dropped Joshua twice apiece in the third and seventh rounds and produced one of the most stunning results in boxing history.

Anthony Joshua is the only heavyweight who is systematically clearing out the division and taking on all comers 'His resume is better that Fury's overall'. Tyson Fury is number 1 right now, but if he suffered the same type of defeat as Joshua? I don't think he would still be in the game 'He even said it himself, stated that he would of retired etc'.

I am in nobodies corner, and don't really care much who comes out on top.

If he beats Fury he’s the best of this current crop for sure.
Right now he’s #2 but he has a chance to take it from Tyson.
A lot of boxers and athletes have taken L’s and come back stronger.

He has already beaten more top 10 boxers than Fury, Wilder and Dillian Whyte combined.

Once he batters Fury and sparks him - he's automatically the best of the era.

And there’s the difference between a true champion and a paper title holder.

AJ: I got beat to a pulp. Ruiz was the better man on the night.

Wilder: I had an injury going into the ring; My Black Panther Halloween costume weighed too much and drained my energy; Fury was throwing rabbit punches; the referee allowed Fury to fight dirty; Breland threw the towel in too early; Breland was influenced by one of SugarHill’s fighters to throw the towel in.

I’ve probably missed about 6 Wilder excuses.

I’m no particular fan but Joshua may well be the best of his generation. He certainly has the best most professional attitude of those contending against him.

I'm not necessarily a Joshua fan but the dude is a class act and like it or not he did what he had to in order to win his titles back. I would've liked for him to go for the kill but he didnt. Fact is the sport of boxing is about winning no mater what and that's what he did.
