If the money isn't there then why take a high risk low reward fight? A risky fight is especially dangerous for an up and coming undefeated contender. Once you suffer that first L you lose a lot of the buzz and interest that you worked so hard to accumulate all your career. Better to ride out this pandemic and wait until the money IS there if you want to put your career on the line

Let's use Spence and Crawford as an example. Let's say the matchmaker came to them and said "Corona has the game fudged up but we want to put you guys in a blockbuster megafight for the title...we can only afford to pay you guys $1 million each" In normal circumstances these guys would probably draw $20 million each. Why would either of these guys take this fight for chump change?

I think it's about what he potentially loses. He has Ls on his record against Spence and Thurman and a W against Danny. Another loss against the top guys drops him to that next level where top guys won't fight him and he's gotta maintain position fighting guys in a similar standing or again at the up and comers. To make matters worse, he's a tough, rugged guy who employs some questionable tactics so I imagine alot of fighters don't relish the idea of facing him in the ring.

He'd fight Crawford if there was enough financial incentive to match that risk mentioned above. Nobody really knows how the Pandemic will impact PPV and gate revenue (if there is gate revenue)....so he will probably wait and see before committing.

Shaun isn't in full sprint but he's definitely jogging away fast from fighting Crawford. Run Forrest Run!!!

I didn’t interpret this as Porter running from the fight. He said there’s a ticket sale/PPV issue because of covid-19, so the fight doesn’t make sense right now.

It’s the biggest “no $h!t Sherlock” comment ever but for some reason everyone is trying to turn this into porter ducking crawford.

Continual demonstration of "Love the sport...hate the business". TV contracts along with four major sanctioning bodies each with dozens of subsidiary bodies have polluted the competitiveness of this sport. UFC's model would never allow for situations like this. One federation..one champion for each weight class. Fighters should not have the authority to choose who they fight next. They all claim they want the best fights with the best fighters, but now its "It doesn't make sense right now".

I see Charlo fighting Monroe or some other lower level guy and eventually getting a shot at Plant but not Benavidez. It's a Thurman Spence situation. Benavidez has a Mexican following and he's more risk. A loss by either Charlo or Benavidez is likely too big of a loss for the PBC.

I think Charlo will fight Derevyanchenko next @ 160. I have never heard of him saying he would go to 168 yet. He should seriously think about challenging the winner of Benavidez vs. Plant in 2021.

Wait..... Wasn't I supposed to hate Crawford for not fighting this guy?

I hear you but Porter has fought 7 times in the past 5 years. He’s 32. He’ll make more $ fighting Crawford than anyone else - Spence won’t fight him again, nobody wants to see Porter fight Garcia or Thurman again and the prize if he beats Crawford is huge. Porter should try to get that fight. His style could cause Bud some problems too.
