You guys, come on.
Manny is just trying to make sure that his steady stream of young guys keeps calling him out. He doesn't WANT those guys to fight each other instead of him, he wants to fight the young and untested before they take a loss. That's the only reason he really accepted to fight Horn - and it didn't work out well because even though he wasn't subject to drug testing, neither was Horn, and Manny didn't count on that effect.
Manny got upset because Floyd's comments could cost him easy paydays if guys listen to him.Comment

This seems like a case of things getting lost in translation. I'm positive Manny was probably told what was said through translation which probably made the comments seem negative. It's almost impossible to directly quote someone after translation. Tone and context also plays a big part.
Manny was probably told " Floyd said you're and old man and people should stop paying attention to you " or something along those linesComment

Surely that's got to be on Manny's mind. It's like Hulk Hogan exposing the wrestling business which cost a lot of people a lot of money; Manny might be afraid that Floyd will expose the boxing business (chase the old cash cow because you just want to get paid instead of fighting a young threat for less money) and cost him (Manny) money he would have made otherwise.Comment

I was SO mad when Pacquiao rejected the offer to fight Mayweather in 2010, all because he didn't want to enlist in the VADA program. In retrospect, he was right to reject the $40 million flat fee (and should have countered with a percentage split), but accepting the offer would have been a major psychological blow to Mayweather. Just like when Wilder accepted the $15 million flat fee to fight Joshua, with the only caveat that the fight be next and that there be a two-way rematch clause since he was a champion before Joshua and Fury. Hearn and Joshua were so shocked they came up with the WBA mandatory excuse and the Joshua buzz has been on the slide ever since.
As a fan who was fully aware and engaged back when all this was unfolding, I hate when people try to rewrite what happened or continue to push false narratives whether they know it or not.
The fight didn't get made when it should have because both sides were too busy having a pissing match. There was a TON of ego involved between Floyd, Bob, & Manny. Bob & Floyds bad blood was at its peak during that time. Neither of them wanted to truly make that fight because neither wanted to make the other any money.
Floyd constantly flipped flopped on his demands, made offers he knew Bob/Manny would reject & made it clear that it was gonna be his way or no way. All the irrelevant sh-t about being his own boss, and mannys taxes it was all nonsense lol.
Bobs dumb crap about building a new stadium and lying to the public about talks with Floyd that never happened.
There was also the risk reward factor for BOTH sides. A loss for either guy at the peak of interest in that fight (2009-2010) Floyd feared the risk of losing his O & Bob feared for the future of his cash cow had he lost.
You can literally write an essay on why that fight didn't happen at the right time. Just don't get your info from a Floyd or Manny groupie.Last edited by Bronx23; 05-26-2020, 02:18 PM.Comment

At the end of the day Pacquiao competed and won World titles in 3 more weight classes than Floyd, and has a better resume with wins over Barrera and Morales who are future hall of famers. Some would even say Mayweather avoided a big pay day with the ever popular Margarito for some unknown reason, an act which somewhat contradicts his alias money Mayweather. The true driving force of envy on behalf of Mayweather is the love Pacman receives from the public and the boxing community.
Boxing for the love of your nation and people, and for the glory that boxing can bestow is a honor Pacquiao is revered for. Boxing for money will only get you so far in this historic sport.Comment
