IMO he cherry picked Spinks for the exact reasons I don't like him. He doesn't attack and he can't hurt him. Just like picking Sharmba Mitchell for his first fight at 147. I want the Floyd that would fight anybody anytime like when he was at 130/135

I wouldn't consider it a good idea to fight for the first time at 154lbs 3 months before your gonna fight DLH, IMHO this was a great move for Floyd, not the best or most entertaining, but aOriginally posted by amagninI didn't deny that Spinks held the linear title... I just said nobody really considers him "the man" of 154. Plenty of people don't consider Balomir to be "the man" at 147 (especially before he beat Gatti). And you have got to look at reputations at this point because Floyd is fighting for more than belts at this point. I have no problem with Floyd taking a tune-up at 154 that is why this fight makes sense for FEBRURARY. Who is he going to fight at 154 in Februrary now? There won't be anybody except Rivera who also doesn't pose much threat to Floyd. And I give Spinks and Margarito about the same chance to beat Floyd and that is not very good. To me, Margarito has a slightly better chance because he can change a fight with 1 punch while Cory Spinks can't change a fight with 20 punches. Also I am a boxing fan and Spinks doesn't do anything that interests me as a fan.
smart move nonetheless & like I said there's enough very good fighters at 147 7 now that no one is waiting to see what Floyd does they're free to fight each other and set themselves up as the 147 king.Comment

My opinion will alway be that Mayweather fought & beat the man at 147, I don't think he got tired down the stretch, he just got figured out & dismanteled. Can you honestly name a fighter at 147 that would have beaten the Judah that stepped in the ring against Mayweather?Originally posted by amagninIMO he cherry picked Spinks for the exact reasons I don't like him. Why does he need more than 1 fight to get used to the weight? He seemed pretty comfortable in his 2nd fight at 147 when he beat the ex-undisputed champ. And while I know that there are plenty of great fights at 147, I want to see PBF involved. Plus I think the real career defining victories are still at the lower weights against Hatton and Cotto (maybe Margarito). So I just don't get this. I understand a sort of temporary move up to fight DLH but why stay there. 154 is a garbage division at this point outside of DLH and Floyd especially compared to 147.Originally posted by AllEyesOpenI wouldn't consider it a good idea to fight for the first time at 154lbs 3 months before your gonna fight DLH, IMHO this was a great move for Floyd, not the best or most entertaining, but a

I wonder if Floyd will ever fight any big punchers in the higher weight classes; fighters that are true "Welterweights or Junior MIddleweights"
For Spinks, I guess it is an OK fight; it does offer a chance at being the "True" 154lb Champion.Comment

Well you can't have it both ways...if Judah was still the man then Spinks isn't the man at 154. I never said Judah got tired... I agree Floyd simply figured him out. Guess who he won't have to spend 4 rounds figuring out this time... Spinks. Fight somone who is right handed and can punch at least if you want to prepare for DLH.Originally posted by AllEyesOpenMy opinion will alway be that Mayweather fought & beat the man at 147, I don't think he got tired down the stretch, he just got figured out & dismanteled. Can you honestly name a fighter at 147 that would have beaten the Judah that stepped in the ring against Mayweather?Comment

I don't think that he needs more then 1 fight at 154, I just think he needs time to adjust, remember he's a natural 130/135 fighter, and he's about to fight a very hard hitter in DLH. I know he's missed out on alot of great fights at 140 & 147, but I don't think anyone has a better chance at handing him his first loss then DLH(or Winky).Originally posted by amagninWhy does he need more than 1 fight to get used to the weight?
