Man... Spinks doesn't get much respect around here or anywhere for that matter. This is going to be a good fight for both. Floyd has never fought anyone quite like Spinks and I think he could possibly give him way more trouble them just about all the other possible fights out there. It just sucks that if Floyd wins (I think he will) he won't get the respect he deserves for winning. Spinks is BY FAR the best boxer that Floyd has ever fought and he's got quickness as well. I don't know how anyone can diss this choice to fight Spinks. It makes so much sense. To me atleast.

very well said and to the point...i dont get what the f**k the point will be of this fight, spinks and floyd may be interesting on a "boxing fight" level but at the end of it floyd is just better and spinks wont even hurt him with his best shot (which if he does will just be emberassing) so yeah..plus if its a close fight spinks is not gonna get it either. Why no Rivera,Margarito or f**king others. Kinda pissed and i dont think this will be ppv worthy enough to order, hope spinks can outbox him but come on..we all know whats gonna happen. Floyd needs to step it up..were all tired of saying it.

Spinks is a great boxer but with no power and a bad chin and his running in late rounds when in trouble i dont see why he is held so highly. I like the guy but hes jsut not that good or dangerous.

Spinks is a good boxer, but he is a lot like Judah and Mitchell. Judah at least had power to threaten Floyd. And what pisses me off the most is that Cory Spinks is the most unimpressive fighter with a good record I've ever seen. I've never been less impressed with a high profile win than his win against Karmazin. Even though I thought Spinks won the fight I wanted to give it to Karmazin because Spinks is such a coward. Against Mayorga he won basically because Ricardo Mayorga is a thug that can't fight within the rules (2 point deductions). His only other win was against Zab Judah and I can't determine whether that was Spinks fighting well or Judah being totally unfocused... combined with the fact that Judah murdered him in the rematch. Add in that he lost to Michelle Picirillo I am really not impressed. Also he was lucky to get headbutted against Pineda as he was fighting less than inspired. He also lost to Antonio Diaz who Antonio Margarito and Shane Mosley murdered. Bottom line is Spinks is a tricky fight for some but not for Floyd and against anyone he is BORING and COWARDLY. This guy doesn't deserve a big fight.

This is a win/win for Floyd, despite the critcism he'll get from the boxing media...come on, he's used to that by now, what's a few more months?

This is a legit title fight at 154, and with a win it sets up a unification showdown with De La Hoya, most likely for the Ring title as well. With a win there, he can move back down to welter for Cotto or Margarito or whoever has established themselves as true welter king.

It's doubtful, however, that Floyd will ever be able to get back to 140 for an undisputed title fight with Hatton, thought. I'm very disappointed that fight will probably never happen.

How is this a win-win for Floyd? He will pick up another trinket title at another weight division. I believe Spinks hold the linear crown, but nobody thinks he is the 154 champ (at least not if you are thinking). Floyd will gain a belt at 154 when he fights DLH as long as he wins anyway so why does he need the belt now. A fight against Hatton for 147 unification or against Baldomir or Margarito make much more sense. And it makes less sense to jump from 147 to 154 then back to 147 then to deal with your business at 147 (Margarito and Baldomir) then move up to 154 and take care of business there.

It use to be; to be the man you gotta beat the man which is something Floyd didn't do at 140(I think Judah was the man at 147 when he stepped into the ring against PBF), now Floyd doesn't deserve respect for doing just that against Spinks(regardless of what you think he's the man at 154), I honestly give Spinks a better shot then Margarito at beating Floyd, I think alot of guys just want to see Mayweather fight a big slugger, well regardless of style Floyd would school Margarito. Right now he's positioning himself for a the biggest boxing match in years, why jump to 154 to fight DLH without a previous fight at that weight. Honestly I'm tired of listening to people ***** about Floyd and his business decisions cause there's so many much better fights between the guys currently at 147 that Floyd doesn't even need to be mentioned, the man made his decision now lets move on to the next big fight at 147

If PBF was coming off a tear in the 140 and 147 divisions, the Spinks fight would be near perfect as a way to adjust to the new weight in anticipation of getting a fight with PPV #1 DLH at 154.

But, in light of the division hopping and risk avoidance of the last 3+ years, scepticism is warranted. PBF versus Stinks does not advance the sport at all. It adds a weak IBF belt for PBF, but collecting cheap belts and avoiding the divisions best champions does not build a legacy, it only adds questions marks. Ask Hector Camacho.

I didn't deny that Spinks held the linear title... I just said nobody really considers him "the man" of 154. Plenty of people don't consider Balomir to be "the man" at 147 (especially before he beat Gatti). And you have got to look at reputations at this point because Floyd is fighting for more than belts at this point. I have no problem with Floyd taking a tune-up at 154 that is why this fight makes sense for FEBRURARY. Who is he going to fight at 154 in Februrary now? There won't be anybody except Rivera who also doesn't pose much threat to Floyd. And I give Spinks and Margarito about the same chance to beat Floyd and that is not very good. To me, Margarito has a slightly better chance because he can change a fight with 1 punch while Cory Spinks can't change a fight with 20 punches. Also I am a boxing fan and Spinks doesn't do anything that interests me as a fan.
