What did nacho prove? Nothing. Atleast canelo is a proven PED cheater and nacho couldn't take that away from him.

Floyd Mayweather - Undefeated #1 P4P boxer. Lost every round and one judge had it a draw
Erislandy Lara - Arguably the best 154 of the world, got robbed of his undefeated record vs Willilams. Arguiably lost the fight
Kirkland - Came in from a 5 winning KO streak. Zero chin, hadnt fought in 2 years. Had already got obliterated in 1 round by feather fisted ishida
Cotto - 160 MW Champ - Came from a 3 winning KO streak. Won the title of a crippled and shot to hell martinez, who could barely stand up
Smith - 154 WBO undefeated champ. Won a vacant wbo title, had never beaten or fought anybody
GGG - 160 WBC, WBA, IFF undefeated champion. Arguiably lost both fights, after ducking golovkin for years
Fielding - 168 WBA regular champ. Fielding got kod in 1 round by smith. Never beat anyone decent. Best win was a gift decision over Ryder.
Jacobs - 160 IBF champ.
Kovalev - 175 WBO champ. [B]Shot to bits alchoholic who was 5 years past his prime, was in a brutal war and nearly got stopped a couple of months prior
Hey! let's not give Roy Jones Jr that credit for beating John Ruiz because he had already lost to Holyfield, Tua, Nicholson. or whatever win could be discredited if you say whatever you want.

See I assess things differently. I don't just look at how popular a fighter is, I don't just look at belts and don't just look at the names he's faced without any context of how old they were when he faced them, nor will I ignore questionable scorecards.
Canelo has plenty of names on his resume but 6 of the 9 biggest fights on his resume were against guys that were 35 and older. 2 of those 6 fights against 35 and older competition had very questionable scoring and were fights that over 95% of press row had him losing.
When you asses top talent he's faced while they were in their prime, you could argue trout (who turned out to be a gatekeeper), Lara (who many thought beat canelo) and jacobs (who was one round off from having a draw with Canelo in a very uneventful fight).
In my opinion, the following Mexicans were more impressive to me based on who they fought, when they fought them, and the excitement involved in their fights morales (3 nearly dead even fights with Barrera, & a win over pac) Barrera (beating morales 2 out of 3 and embarrassing an undefeated Hamed) and Marquez (3 dead even fights with pac and a 4th by brutal ko, wins over Barrera, casamayor, & Juan Diaz). I think that facing that type of competition in their primes surpasses Canelo's resume. I won't even get into Chavez sr, ricardo Lopez or Salvador Sanchez.
Still you can't deny based in "FACTS" that his resume is second best in boxing below Pacquiao.
And if we are gonna name those mexican greats let's not act they never had questionable wins, you honestly thought Chavez beat Whitaker? that's a rethorical question,
Didn't Morales get caught with Clembuterol two times??

Not to say the most athletic boxer to ever laced gloves up alongside Ray Leonard and Ray Robinson.
Didn't Ray Leonard had controversial fights at his peak? Did he just steamroll Hagler, Duran or Hearns? It's called fighting the elite amigo.
