Also most viruses are NOT named after a geographic place or a person. Go look at a respiratory panel or any GI viruses, let me know if you see any names or location. Wonder who’s the namesake for aids or hpv....

You must not have anyone in your orbit in either healthcare or science, otherwise you wouldn’t think anybody other than trump supporters call this virus the Wuhan or China virus.
We shouldn't have to hide where this came from.

When people feel fury over what has happened they need to direct it squarely at the entity that is to blame.

Didn't he say he refuses to fight in an arena with no fans?

If that's the case, this fight wont happen till 2021

I understand your sentiments ShoulderRoll. To be honest, from personal experience it's often easier to direct anger and point fingers than to place part of the blame on ourselves. For the record, I don't think we should hide it and I'm sure that everyone and their mother already knows that the origins of the outbreak reside in China.

Honestly if those in power could look at the situation as a way to learn about our deficiencies it would do us better in the long run than to solely place blame, that way we could come back stronger. This administration has not only shrugged off early warning signs of a rearing pandemic but openly absolved themselves from any sort of accountability. Placing blame on the previous administration or on China or any other future place as a birth of a pandemic, is frankly a waste of time that could otherwise be spent picking up our country. The fact is we can't change the past but be can control how we conduct ourselves moving forward.

There's several takeaways from this pandemic, one being reducing the outsourcing of manufacturing to other countries so that we may have an infrastructure that would allow us to operate independently in times of need. Another would be to heed the importance of intelligence when it comes to public health. A unilateral preemptive response could've mitigated the exponential nature of the virus.

I think people really need to view each other as humans and not geopolitical en******. There are people all over the world that are suffering from the loss of a loved one, loss of an ability to provide for their families, sometimes sadly both. If we actually realize that the majority of people share the same values and only want to do their best to get by and care for those they love there wouldn't be so much vitriol being spewed all around.

I appreciate your candid reply ShoulderRoll and your openness to a dialogue. Sometimes its hard to find connection behind a screen, especially on boxing forums lol. Hope you all the health and safety brother and most importantly, that we get some ****ing fights back on the roster!!

I'm not sure why you so obstinately need to call this the Wuhan virus. That's the most confusing part to me. Just because something in the past set a precedent, doesn't mean it's the right way to go about it. It's easy to look past something that doesn't affect you, but the inability to look beyond how things are is a reason to be stuck where you're at. I didn't mean to start a debate, I have some learning to do to not get triggered. I hope you the best brother and stay safe.

If we ever get to see this Loma-Lopez fight, we'll be in for one hell of a treat. Honestly, this pandemic has changed the landscape of the sport and fighters will have to take smaller purses in general. Loma seems dead set on unifying and money doesn't seem like his sole driving force, from the outside it appears that Lopez has been making a lot of noise as to why the fight might not possibly happen. If he moves up, there are killers everywhere at 140, it'd serve him better to take an L from a pound for pound top guy with an excuse that he had difficulty making weight; rather than lose to a prograis, ramirez or taylor.

I see no reason why people should be blaming Trump for something he didn't originate.

The originator of a thing is accountable for that thing.

Tim Bradley started the "other side of the street" narrative. He's accountable for why his boy Crawford can't get quality fights.

Manny was the first to refuse random blood and urine testing. He's accountable for why he was forced to wait 6 years, two losses and a knockout before getting the fight.

Bernard Hopkins was the first to claim that he would never lose to a "white boy". Only to proceed to take an L to Calslappy. He's responsible for that loss AND whatever happens to Devin Haney.

                First = you're accountable.

Wuhan is accountable for allowing the virus now infecting the world. Wuhan Virus is thus appropriate.

We'll have to wait and see what happens. I am guessing Lopez (as well as a lot of other people) will change his view on fighting without fans after watching fight after fight go behind closed doors. What good is it to cry after gate money if you can't get it?

Loma was never one for tune-ups (he had to be persuaded to take a tune-up before fighting Salido, and only did it because he was told otherwise he couldn't get ranked for a championship fight).

I think Lopez is just upset the fight's not happening and feeling the ticking time bomb of his weight, so he talks *** about Loma as he's not sure who else to blame.
