If the fan union maintains integrity, constantly stays on the promoters' asses, and picks up steam on social media you never know what can happen.
At the end of the day it is the fans' money and viewership that makes boxing a viable business. We are the customers.
Nothing is ever going to change if you just sit back and accept corruption.
“The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” ― Edmund Burke
The only way things will change is if people DON'T buy the tickets and DON'T buy the PPVs. If you make them hurt in the wallet, they will take notice. Some rinkydink fan union will do nothing. Nice idea though.Comment

Nah. I don't buy it at all. Who is going to legitimize this so called fan union? Why would they have any credibility? The boxing world is hard enough for a new promoter to be successful who has financial backing. Why do you think a bunch of random fans would have any more success?

As long as the union represents them right.
The goal isn't to make any money so no financial backing is needed.
It would simply be an outlet to provide a voice for fans and to pressure promoters/networks to give better fights to their paying customers.Comment

We should not reward them with our hard-earned money when they do things like that. Especially in these troubled times.
There needs to be a boxing fans union where intelligent followers of the sport get together to discuss which fights are worth spending money on. They can then give a union recommendation of thumbs up or thumbs down for each major fight card.
Just to serve as a guide and as a voice for the paying boxing fan.
By schedule or by name?
The classic poll style doesn't apply I assume. Pac vs Money isn't a thing when saying who is worth watching; the answer is both.
So how exactly would one conduct candidacy? Is it ever worth polling the guys we all know, like floyd, wlad, ali, srr, etc, or should someone get to work on the back catalogue straight away?
It would be easier to just pick up by schedule and poll what upcoming fights are worth paying for, but, at the moment, the **** would we be doing? Ain't ****all to pay for in boxing right now.
How about services? DAZN, ESPN, Showtime, Fox, whatever and so on. Direct reviews, or, just ask the forum to rank them?
I'm always interested in fan born ways to promote boxing or boxers. We, as fans who *****, whine, and cry about every goddamn authority in boxing, should do more to represent ourselves.

A poll would be perfect, actually. As you say it would be easy to look at the schedule and vote on which fight cards are worth paying for.
With COVID-19 affecting things right now it's not a good time to start this up obviously. It would be something better suited for when boxing goes back to normal, if that ever happens.Comment

I was mostly thinking of ranking fight cards but maybe services could be ranked too. Perhaps give them all a grade at the end of the year based on who gave better value for money.

Legitimacy will come from the people, the boxing fans themselves.

How are you going to put any pressure on promoters/networks if you have no power or influence? It would be no different that some random guy on youtube voicing his complaints. Nobody cares.
Seriously conversing with some people on here is like ****ing your head against a wall.Comment

You need financial backing to be taken seriously. What don't you understand about that?

That's all. No one needs to be bankrolled. The union would just need to grow from the grassroots.Comment

Agree with most posters...just get over with this lacklustre fight for more interesting stuff...Fury or Wilder or Ruiz Jr. I am not sure even Usyk will be a good fight. Nothing against Usyk, he's great, but not just a proper heavyweight. He ain't hurting Joshua for sure and his best bet is outscoring AJ. But I think AJ is good enough to not let that happen.Comment
