If Pirog hadn't broken his back, NOBODY would be talking about GGG

Bullying a young, green Jacob's does not prepare u for GGG.

People love mock GGG these days but he gave Canelo all he could handle and more and arguably shouldn't have a loss in his resume.
I agree with this, but only because I know how good GGG was when he signed to fight Pirog, and sadly, no-one will ever know how good Pirog was.

I say that because I also agree with the posters saying that the Danny Jacobs who fought GGG and Canelo was a different animal than the one who got KO'd by Pirog.

Pirog is far more skilled than ggg. More sleek, has good defence, lateral movement and could **** as well. GGG should thank his lucky stars that pirog got injured preparing for him, or his career may have been ended right there. GGG at that time was a lot more reckless than he is now, and pirog would expose him hard if they had fought.

I feel like Danny had become a much better fighter when he fought Golovkin and Canelo. He was pretty much untested when he fought Pirog.

That win has aged like a fine wine though.

          ****** thread.

Jacobs was not in his prime. Also when he got knocked down, Jacobs for whatever reason played dead when it was clear he could still continue. When a fighter lies flat on his back with his eyes closed and doesn't move, referees are likely to stop the fight. This isn't the 1940's. Not sure what he was thinking.

The Danny Jacobs who fought Pirog improved enomously by the time he fought Golovkin and Canelo. I don't think Pirog could beat him in a rematch.
