One of the biggest tragedies in boxing was Dmitry Pirog's back injury. He demolished a PRIME Danny Jacobs, and went on to defend his title a few times prior to signing to fight GGG in a unification fight with GGG's Regular WBA.

Yeah, maybe. That Jacobs ko looks bad ass since Danny was never seriously hurt against Canelo or Golovkin but Pirog ran hot and cold from what I remember.

Yeah, for all that he looked spectacular against Danny he kinda made hard work of a few lower level guys, he wasn't really a KO artist despite how that one fight makes him look. Still damn good fighter and a interesting tricky style. Fun to watch.

Yeah I heard about that, got some business dealings, boxing promotion and stuff, as well and - a coupla years ago at least - local politics. Smart fella Dmitry, chess player too (hence the ring name 'the Grandmaster') which always makes mke more inclined to get behind a fighter.

EDIT: Damn, yeah he's in the State Duma now, so he has moved up in the world, fully fledged politician. That's the equivalent of the House of Commons in the UK or the House of Reporesentatives in the US I guess.

A PRIME Jacobs at 23? Yeah right...

Yeah I was gonna say that was definitely a Young Danny Jacobs. He hadn't fought anyone worth a lick at that time and I think Al was figuring to get him an easy belt with an assist from Varcarcel after they stripped Sergio.. Needless to say things didn't go according to plan. Not a 100% but I think it's Varcarcel sat behind and left of the judges table (in the yellow striped tie) and his mouth drops open in what looks a good deal like horror when Danny goes down.

GGG obviously has talent and would always be mentioned..even in his late 30's he gave Canelo all he could handle 2 times...(SOME)of His fans may go overboard but all fanbases have them..but the guy is no pushover and it would take an elite athlete to beat him
