How could you have Vargas winning that fight?! Sure I admit Mikey gassed a bit at the end. And that's a reoccurring issue he'll have to address if he wants to hang with the big boys. But Vargas hit the mat like a ton of bricks in that 5th round! Devastating knockdown. Just like he did to Dejan, just like he did to Easter. It's the same ol thing, Mikey hurts people period. I don't think he hurts Porter (and clearly not Spence). But Thurman is damaged goods, D Garcia can be hit, and Pac can definitely go to sleep in the right circumstances. Vargas was never the same afterwards. And too add.... I'm NOT saying Mikey beats all those guys (in fact I think Porter would destroy Mikey. But I think Mikey beats Thurman easily. And i think Pac and Danny G are toss up matches for him)...... but Vargas did not win by any means.

You're daydreaming if u think that mikey will beat thurman easily if ever they fight i think thurman will ko garcia in less than 10 rounds and i favor thurman to beat porter and danny garcia.

I'm not saying you're going crazy. But I will say that you two guys are the only people that feel that way. And I've not heard anybody (or groups of "anybody") discussing this as a bad decision. When bad decisions happen, it's noticed by the general public, and discussed. Nobody is talking about how he was robbed. Vargas HIMSELF knew what's up!! He said nothing but what a losing fighter says. HE knew he lost the fight. He gave the standard "I feel I won the fight", but who doesn't? Then he goes on to say Mikey is up there with the rest of the WWs (which I'm not so sure of yet either, we'll see). But that's what fighters do when they get that ass whooped. They try to downplay it. As if Mikey is elite, and losing to elite fighters is no shame. He didn't say "Mikey is no good and I was robbed". What else do you need to hear to see the obvious?!

That's because it wasn't a robbery, it was a very close, razor thin win.

I call it a gift, because of Vargas' level as a fighter. Went to a draw with Broner and debatably won close against the guy that easily beat Broner?

That fight with Mikey/Vargas and the fact that there were so many swing rounds was enough to validate that Mikey has zero business at welter. It wasn't a 'skill' type fight, Vargas was just too big and strong for Mikey to deal with comfortably.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think a "prime" Thurman would lose to Mikey. I'm not daydreaming. Thurman WAS a very solid fighter on every levels. His heart just isn't in it anymore. He looked HORRIBLE against Lopez and lost to Pac in his last couple fights. As far as Mikey, I say he can beat the current Thurman as is. I've stated here that I believe Porter would DESTROY Mikey. That's a bad matchup for Mikey. And D Garcia, I feel Mikey definitely has the ability to beat Danny G. I'm not saying Mikey would beat him 100 times out of 100. But on a given night, I feel Mikey can beat him. Only issue there is that same awkward looping hook that Vargas kept landing on Mikey, Danny G throws that same punch. And it's way more powerful. If Mikey gets hit with that as many times from Danny G, Mikey would probably lose.

But moral of the story.... Thurman sucks now. And is not really even in the picture of elite welterweights at the moment.

Yea that might happen. Since Mikey is so terrible. I mean what measuring stick are we using.... top 10 p4p of all time? Of course he's not. One loss to a dude way bigger AND better, should not end careers in the eyes of fans such as yourself. There's only a handful of fighters that can say they've had their last 7 or 8 fights against guys with title pedigree in some manner. Not saying that makes Mikey great. But I AM saying there's nothing wrong with his career path at all. Let him get paid!

Where in my post did I complain about him getting paid? He is choosing to take a bunch of L’s in ex change for cashing out. Makes no sense.
