Honestly we all do it, whether its because we dislike the boxer or his fans, we all do it. I generally don't like calling boxers bums, but in boxing we genuinely have boxers who ARE bums. Now that isn't a bad thing per say as they are just their to give another boxer quantity in terms of numbers on their resume.
Boxing seems to be a catch 22 sometimes

All I want is what’s best for the sport. The same can’t be said for everyone here. They latch onto a few boxers and begin constructing false realities around their guy. Misleading, slanted, straight up trash.Comment

You just hit the nail on the head, when posters call a fighter a bum they have lost me, anyone who has been in the ring themselves should know better, all the couch potato experts here that make ludicrous comments and statements yet have never done a minute of training, yet according to themselves have all the answers, they are the problemComment

Wasn’t always like this , to be honestComment

Smart matchmaking could make any fighter look better than they actually are. If you make a career beating bums, just to step up and lose, you deserve to be criticized for that. Being undefeated doesn't mean much, if you've never faced good fighters.Comment

Larry my friend, what the FU%K are you talking about? What???
"Haters hate you if you are undefeated, but for some reason those same haters hate you even more when you lose...what gives?"
I don't get it....are haters supposed to love fighters they hate once that fighter loses? Is that how it's supposed to work?
Larry, no offence my man but was this sh£t supposed to fry the brains of everyone who read it? Because that's what you just did brotha. My lawyer will be in contact with you shortly.Comment

Same here, really good post!!! I agree 100 percent which is why I try to discuss various boxers. A lot of time when I am looking at fighters as a coach/ trainer I tend to prefer the ones that fight utilizing fundamentals that I teach but in discussions and promoting fighters I really just want to see the sport grow, gain more respect and have all fighters get their recognition and respect that they are due.Comment

End of the day, man, there's no more futile effort than to try to convince folk the way they're behaving is wrong by just telling 'em man. Only person you can control and the only person whose words you're responsible for is your own. Behave how you'd like to see other folk behaving, judge yourself by the same standards you'd judge others and you won't go too far wrong in any community... those are simple extensions of the basic ethic of reciprocity which you'll find in pretty much every belief system and simply good rules to live life by.
When it comes to this boxing forum another simple extension is to judge all fighters by the standards you'd apply to your favourites, before you leap in to slate a guy ask yourself what you'd be saying if it was a guy you liked just lost or whatever. And I ain't saying you gonna change anyone else's behaviours but at least you'll be being consistent and true to yourself which is all anyone can ask - and who knows, enough of us start behaving sensibly and treating everyone with respect around here we might eventually be able to turn this shit around a little.
You ain't gonna change dudes by preaching man, but there's an outside chance that if you're true to yourself, behave with integrity and strive to avoid hypocrisy some folk might see that as something worth emulating. What's that saying, 'Be the change you want to see'? it's a good'un.
EDIT: and whilst we all natrurally got preferences I found trying understand the viewpoints and the decisions of the fighters I cared less for - arguing their corner if you like, or actually going looking for what was special or unique in each fighter - helped me appreciate the sport as a whole more and I like to think improved me as a boxing fan.Last edited by Citizen Koba; 05-12-2020, 05:10 AM.Comment

Not really. But gg g was considered hypejob when unbeaten also, so at least people consistent.
Same with floyd, people think he's a hypejob. It don't take a loss.
As a boxer all you got the power to do is answer as many questions of you as you can, be it fight abroad, rematch your biggest rivals to silence doubters, come back from loss or adversity, create adversity yourself by taking risks more than once or twice, more often than not preferbly.
You do this in your career you will be heading in right direction.
Nobody thinks losses is bad. The most revered boxers all lost. The only people who diss boxers who have been beaten are fans of unbeaten boxers. To just put unbeaten boxers on a pedestal is unrealistic, we are reduced to ottke, marciano, Ricardo lopez, valero, Floyd and Calzaghe and that thai boxer who's name escaped me? We'd be missing all that heavenly glory.Last edited by hugh grant; 05-12-2020, 07:28 AM.Comment
