  • Comments Thread For: Caleb Plant: I Want David Benavidez Fight, They Want To Wait!

Caleb Plant has grown tired of the list of excuses coming from divisional rivals. Rather than continue to plead his case through words, he's instead chosen to start collecting receipts. The most common topic of discussion for the unbeaten super middleweight titlist is when he will secure a unification bout with fellow undefeated 168-pound title claimant David Benavidez. The two have been at each other's throats for more than 18 months-before Plant even won his belt-but remain no closer to a head-on collision. Benavidez (22-0, 19KOs) have tried to paint the picture that there's resistance on the other side, but it doesn't quite line up with the recollection of his heated rival.

He took the bait, now you’ll see team Benavidez call him out publicly and you’ll get crickets from plant... or of course the more traditional... al haymon doesn’t want it yet bs... all speculation on my part but I do hope pant unifies next wether it’s David, bjs, or callum... I think whoever unifies first at 68 will be front runner for a canelo pay day.

Well Plant wanted to wait against Clenelo. What went around came back. karma. Plus the biggest fight check in his career.🥊

I really favour Plant in this one. I think he could potentially box rings around Benavidez.

I doubt Plant is scared of Benavidez.
I think it's more to do with Plant ( or his people ) being afraid of him losing.
And when it comes to the Benavidez fight. I see Benavidez stopping Plant in the later rounds or a UD with a KD involved.

Plant or his Team doesn't want Benavidez, at least not right now. Plant has flip flopped his position so many times, meanwhile Benavidez hasn't changed his tune not once. He's been calling Plant out relentlessly.

At the end of the day we all know Haymons pulling the strings. What I've come to learn about Al I'd that he has the final say so. If two of his guys truly want to fight each other he makes it happen but if one or the other doesn't, he doesn't press the issue.

Plant is a good boxer and I think he'd do well against Benavidez but ultimately I think he would get broken down late. Benavidez is too strong, too big, too fast, good chin and is improving with each fight.

Benavidez needs to stay far away from Plant

Plant is gonna upset a lot of people when these two meet in the ring. I think he'll win a close fight and the usual controversy will ensue and they'll have to do it again. People write Plant off but the dude can fight. He'll prove it yet again

Benavidez vs Plant I think is closer then anyone thinks. Benavidez is going to have to find a way to stop Plant's legs, get past his defense, and deal with Plant's hand speed and combinations, and I think Plant hits harder than people expect. Still I'd bet Benavidez could take a decision off Plant. However Plant seems like the type to throw more roadblocks in this fight then David.
