The lone person who remembers this.

A Tyson's uppercut had lifted Williams off the ground in the first round, and Mike was indeed beating him bad. Then, at one point later on, his knee went and he just fizzled out.

Oh, right, he "quit". I already hear the Tyson haters coming.

Watch it again, I just did. Tyson did rock him with a left uppercut in the first. But Williams stood in there. He traded all night. He wasent afraid at all. Mike was not beating him bad. Listen to the announcers. Williams landed a bunch of punches in the fourth to Tyson’s head. A right hand put Tyson down. Watch the fight. I dare you. It’s not like how u remember it. Call me a hater, I just watched the fight. I thought I remembered it like u did too. But u will see. Tyson took a bunch of big shots right at the end, listen to the commentary. A right hand sent him back against the ropes and down. Watch it. It’s not the fight u just claimed. Be honest.

They are probably going to start an old/adult 4 rounder tour sooner in boxing.

The day after Tyson beat Spinks, I asked my old man if there was anyone out there that could beat Mike Tyson ( I was a huge Tyson fan ) He told me “Well son there’s a guy named Evander Holyfield...” When they finally did fight he took bets at the bar for Evander to win, he’d only take even odds because he didn’t want to ruin anyone’s night.
I wasent allowed to be a poser fan boy and make up ***** about Mike Tyson. If u bet on him to beat Holyfield, Lewis, Williams, McBride, u all lost. All u posers make kids today think Tyson’s first name is “Prime”. Might as well collect air Jordan’s and act like it’s a unique quirk of yours. Only Mike Tyson could lose in the biggest upset in history. It’s not like it happened to anyone else. He deserves his credit as a great attraction, but overrated as a fighter. Never lived up to the odds at the top. So come at me with ur “prime” Mike destroys everyone bull*****, u already got it wrong enough times so why should anyone believe a word...

Hmmm, not been interested in seeing Danny William's box for about 15 years.
Iron Mike vs Shannon the Cannon over 4-6 rounds max, would be worth a watch though.

Believe it or not, I myself had watched it again before you posted this. I remembered it well enough, including Williams's courage. The lone thing you're not considering in an otherwise correct evaluation is that Tyson injured his knee already in the first round. From then on - even Freddie Roach confirmed it if I'm not wrong - Tyson's punching could not have the same effects on Williams because his leverage was not there anymore, not to mention the impact on his overall mobility. That's why Danny was able to catch him good as the rounds went on.

This doesn't detract from Williams' gallant fight, not at all. In fact, I was very surprised, with the elapsing of the years, to see Danny ending in the pitiful state he's now. I had thought he would start his own flight from the Tyson night, but it was not to be unfortunately.

One can only hypothesize about prime Tyson, but the potential was there. Then he got into trouble.

Holyfield defeated a B-version of Tyson, but this is often conveniently forgotten... The post-jail Tyson was a shadow of his earlier version. We discussed this issue here so many times in the past, there's no way everybody will agree, though.

You can't watch 1 Tyson fight and base your opinion off that. From the sound of it, you didn't watch the uprising of Tyson. You maybe didn't start watching him until he became a circus wreck. Which isn't your fault. Just timing of life. But Tyson representing something different for the sport. When Tyson fought, it was global interest. Everyone knows where they were at when Tyson fought. People threw parties, bars filled up, places sold out. Tyson was the biggest star athlete during his day. It was like the super bowl every time he fought. Just like Manny Pacquiao, record goes out the window when discussing him. It was more about the aura. He was literally the most intimidating presence on earth for a while. Father time beats everyone. But for a while, Tyson was the biggest rock star this sport has ever seen. And we'll never see anyone like him again. Watching heavyweights now is just boring compared to Tyson. He could move like a middleweight, and had real boxing talent.
