I dont care who he takes on next, the brixton bomber, Gino Demori or even the Russian Molecule from hell. The Atomic Bull will retire without ever being stopped. Its just not physically possibile to KO him, 55 years old or not!

Surprised Fres Oquendo hasnt piped up for his yearly mutterings of being deserved the WBA title shot

Which isn't your fault. Just timing of life. But Tyson representing something different for the sport. When Tyson fought, it was global interest. Everyone knows where they were at when Tyson fought. People threw parties, bars filled up, places sold out. Tyson was the biggest star athlete during his day. It was like the super bowl every time he fought. Just like Manny Pacquiao, record goes out the window when discussing him. It was more about the aura. He was literally the most intimidating presence on earth for a while. Father time beats everyone. But for a while, Tyson was the biggest rock star this sport has ever seen. And we'll never see anyone like him again. Watching heavyweights now is just boring compared to Tyson. He could move like a middleweight, and had real boxing talent.
I was a Tyson fan since 1987. Every kid had his video game. He wasent even champ when it was licensed. Must have rented his greatest hits ( 1988 ) at least three times. He was a massive star. I’ll never forget his aura. But after he smashed Spinks my Dad who paid to see it closed circuit wasent stoked, cause he hoped to see a better fight. My dad hoped Spinks would try and box him, stay away early, to try and get the most competitive fight. But when my dad before the fight said Spinks was a good LH, it had me concerned, cause Tyson was a built guy, 215lbs, not a blown up LH. And in the 80s physiques were everything. I’ve seen every Tyson fight he’s ever had plenty of times. Almost every one live since after he lost to Buster. I had his pictures on my wall. I’m 5’10” 215lbs myself. I wanted his physique since I was young. I’m a fan. I saw the stuff everyone always talks about that makes him great, but I just also saw the stuff that wasent as great. That’s all.

Holyfield defeated a B-version of Tyson, but this is often conveniently forgotten... The post-jail Tyson was a shadow of his earlier version. We discussed this issue here so many times in the past, there's no way everybody will agree, though.
I understand. It’s a merry go round, and it’s all been said before. It’s just we hear Tyson was such a natural young talent, but then somehow all his set backs effected him and ruined him soo much which is kind of a paradox? Almost every fighter has a story. Think about how many punches to head Evander took while Mike was away? My honest opinion, Evander is all wrong for him, that’s all. Just know I love Mike. We all do. We had lunch in Vegas with a friend of a friend, who Tyson used to sleep on his couch. Called him an idiot savant. Watched boxing film all day. Knew the history back and forth. But was quiet and childlike otherwise. But that was his early years. Said he wasent massive, wore lots of track suits, but he was solid.

Indeed that's exactly what I thought when they fought. It's just that the tickle remains to imagine a quicker, younger version of Iron Mike against Evander... it would have been a hell of a fight regardless of the outcome.

And, make no mistake, I appreciate Holyfield as well.
