It doesn't matter, you're suppose to watch whatever you want/like. Only an idiot would care which sport is bigger and more cringingly so when they have no stake in the business. It's like fans who say "we" as if they played a part in their guy/girl/team's victory.

UFC 249 this weekend though is a power move though and stacking the card when there's practically no other sports events going on right now will pull in a lot of new fans and stay relevant. Huge bid for more market share.

Nothing will destroy Boxing, nothing captures the moment like the really big fights.

Way too much deep rooted history flowing through the veins of boxing.

Yep. Kicking, Choking, Rolling on the ground, holds, have been around since the beginning of time. Somehow the public made it understood that they preferred stand up boxing above all else. They had provisions against hitting on the ground. They bet huge money on it, and the champs were revered. I know ufc uses a WWE model and doesn’t want mma to turn into anything like boxing where the fighters have the power. That will happen over time though, precedents change. I mean how do u sell the mma characters fighting as more important than the biggest boxers when they earn sooo much less. They have no control and do what they are told and often treated poorly. How badass is that? The most famous and richest mma figure is the president. He’s never stepped into a ring. There’s so much parity in mma it’s hard to find great records, and “undefeated” sells. That’s why Khabib is worth something. People want to see what it takes to beat him. No surprise he’s a wrestler and takes it to the ground, not the most exciting style, but his record is what sells. But that’s so rare in mma. Lots of ways to win, lots of ways to lose. So how much to the results of fights really matter? Connor has lost to two nobodies? Where’s there due? U lose once in boxing, u will never make as much as u could have. People paid cause they had to be there if Floyd lost. The best part of mma is the boxing, that’s the truth. Nobody cares about the best shin kicker in the world. There’s an eye poke in every other mma fight. Boxing is an entity all it’s own. It just exists. UFC is just an American company. Boxing is corrupt for sure. But it’s not like ufc doesn’t make up everything as it goes along. There’s more missed weights in ufc than boxing I’m sure. It’s still 25mins at most compared to 36mins. That’s %50 more. Why pick mma over boxing unless u don’t think ur punching is up to snuff?

The gap in popularity between the two already pretty much closed like a decade ago anyway. There is not going to be any kind of overtaking going on though, thats not how it works. Someone isnt going to check out a UFC card while boxing is away and then just totally stop watching boxing just because they enjoyed it. It all just comes down to what fights are booked and what fighters are around rather than whether its a boxing match or MMA fight. Some years boxing will do better, some years the UFC will do better.

HW boxing is more dead than it was with Wlad and Vitali on Top.
At least back then the second row were fighting each other. These days because everyone is afraid to take an L primarily, nothing gets made.
Also there is barely any money in boxing.
The sanctioning bodies and belts hinder real competition.
Go back and tell me how many big HW fights we had the last 5 years ?
            We had A.J and Wlad
And A.J beating up a couple of bums
Haye limping around the ring twice
And maybe Wilder Fury but that fight barely made any significant PPV numbers.

MMA has already taken over. Just a matter of time until it really gets into the mainstream.
Can see that on Johnnyboys like Stephen Smith talking UFC etc.

              AJ/Wlad
              AJ/Parker
              AJ/Ruiz x2
              AJ/Povetkin
              AJ/Whyte
              Fury/Wilder x2
              Wilder/Ortiz x2
              Whyte/Parker
              Ruiz/Parker
              Whyte/Rivas
              Povetkin/Hunter

Those are fights between top 10 ranked HWs that have happened within the last 5 years, most have happened within the last two. And Fury/Wilder 2 did 800k buys in America alone with likely over twice that if you include international buys. 800k US buys for a HW fight makes it the biggest HW boxing match in America since Lennox/Tyson 18 years ago. The AJ/Ruiz upset and Fury/Wilder got more mainstream attention than HW boxing has had in a long time. Joshua and Fury are the biggest HW stars to emerge since the 90s.

Dont get me wrong, its still a far cry from the days of Tyson or Ali, but its definitely not dead either, especially when compared to the Klitschko era, or to HW MMA which is doing MUCH worse.

6.5M was the worldwide PPV numbers for the fight.

But he is not the one that reported McGregor/Khabib doing around 2.5M PPV buys.

You can combine the first two Canelo vs GGG PPVs and they still don't reach 2.5M buys.

ufc has a different modelt han any boxing outfit. They spend a lot more on marketing..which is good, but it means smaller profits for a big fight, there's a faster turnover rate of stars, so it can be money wasted when a fighter is here for a few fights then fks off..look at Rhonda rousey or brock lesnar.

Already surpassed Boxing in America as a Whole

As a longtime Hardcore Boxing, myself included finds UFC to be far more entertaining because the best always fighting the best compared to Boxing Divide among Promotions, Network/Apps

                      This.

I'll always appreciate & enjoy boxing more than MMA but it's impossible to argue MMA on a fight by fight basis isn't more fun than boxing regardless of the reasons why that's the case.
