Are you worried that UFC will overtake boxing?

With no boxing planned for the foreseeable future, at least another few months of no boxing, this gives UFC a free shot at showing their fights and promotion to all fighting fans.

And with boxing fans desperate for any fighting action they will definitely be tuning into the ufc and if they like it they could end up switching to the ufc for life.

Dana sees an opportunity and is pouncing on it. Dana is ruthless.

Boxing needs to WAKE UP and realise what Dana and the ufc are doing, stealing fans of boxing.

What do you mean overtake boxing? It already HAS taken over boxing in the states. Did you not see the type of deal UFC got with ESPN?

No not at all. Boxing has been around for hundreds over years. The UFC has been around since 1993. They aren’t “taking over” anything and we’ve been hearing this BS since around 2007.

Just take a look at the purses. The top guys in the UFC get 300-500K per fight. In boxing there’s guys most fans haven’t even heard of that are making multi millions per fight. It’s not even close. Andre Berto used to get paid millions for beating up tomato cans while even the top UFC guys only got 500K. There’s no comparison. Boxing will always be on another level.

The only way a UFC fighter can make money is to have a boxing match. A little longer with no change in what a cage fighter makes then people will get the idea. Skip the middle man and go right to boxing.

There are about 20000 pro boxers in the world as apposed to only about 1000 pro mma fighters. The best boxers make many times more money than the best mma fighters. the highest paid mma fighter in the world, Conor , made 59 million for all his mma purses combined. He made 75 million for his one boxing match with Mayweather. So no, I am not the least bit worried about mma taking over boxing. Boxing will alsays be bigger and the top boxers will always make much more money. You won't hear about an 11 fight 350 million dollar dear for any mma fighter. I do love watching both sports and they will both always be around for fans to watch either sport or both sports.

              It already has.

Just because boxers make more money doesn't mean that more people are watching boxing.

Look at UFC's deal with ESPN.

Boxing just has a very rabid niche that's willing to pay exorbitant amounts and get robbed over and over again.

Well, that generation of people are getting older and older and there's nobody replacing them.

American kids have already abandoned boxing for football, basketball, and UFC, and year after year less of them give a damn about boxing.

What should scare us all is that there hasn't been a boxing video game in yeaaaaaaars. That's how a lot of kids get into sports now. While, UFC Fight Night games are selling out.

Neither boxing nor MMA are going away, so who really cares which is more popular?

I hope both thrive, as well as kickboxing and bare knuckle.

They are both niches and nothing to do with what you have said. The reason is because both, for the most part are hidden behind ludicrous paywalls known as PPV.

The 2 x biggest PPVs ever are in boxing of course and in America they both went over 4 million PPV buys,

This might be great for the handful of rich people involved but is killing the sport for the other 320 millions of Americans (in this example)

IF we, the idiotic fans of these Las Vegas based sports, refused to pay, then the likes of floyd could get 10 million instead of a 100 million and he would be just fine and we could all watch for free , like any other normal sport.

But no, the people in these niches won't do that, they would rather pay a monthly subscription and a hundred bucks for one show and pay to go to a friggin weigh in !!
