Comments Thread For: Ricky Hatton Explains Why He Would Have Beaten Amir Khan

There was a point in time, when there were loose discussions about a potential fight between former world champions Ricky Hatton and Amir Khan. But the fight never came about, as the two fighters were at different points in their respective careers. Hatton was close to retirement, while Khan was a fighter in the prime of his career.

Hatton’s chin was not even close to as bad as Amir Khan.

Don't disagree with Ricky's take on it, if both in their prime I would expect the Hitman to take some big shots from Khan and keep coming. He'd probably maul him much like he did to Tszyu and wear him down to a late rounds stoppage.

As I write this, I realize I'm talking more about mythical matchups than I ever have before. I hate them and hate the topic...man do I need real boxing to come back.

Think of Khan's fight with Lamon Peterson except that Hatton does damage.

The better yardstick is Khan vs Peterson. This is how the Khan-Hatton fight would have gone. Ricky was never gonna let him go and those body shots would eventually take their toll. I think Hatton would have won.

For me, Hitmans tactics would have been to grind him down and take him out in the latter stages, to which I think he would have executed perfectly...
