Ricardo Lopez doesn’t get enough respect

Lopez never lost a boxing match as an amateur or professional.

He defended his lineal boxing championship 21 times before moving up and winning a title in a second weight class.

During the coronavirus, there have been a lot of threads on boxers from the 1990s, yet I never see him mentioned.

He was amazing and deserves a thread.

He was such a gem to watch. Too bad the competition was week. There was no Chiquita Gonzalez or Carbajal to fight.

Was huge for the weight class and refused to move up only 3 to 5 pounds to face better fighters.

People will say weak resume but won’t say who he ducked or refused to fight.

Like who for example? Lopez was phenomenal, there just wasn't the fighters there to prove his greatness.

Pretty weak resume. Head2Head from Minimumweight-Flyweight Roman Gonzalez beats him.

He definitley still holds the title of the best minimum weight ever and imo p4p one of the top 3 most complete fighters ever. He could do it all, fight going forward, backwards, counterpunch, move, defense, head movement, speed, power, chin, discipline. You name it, he had it and he was A-level fighter in all these departments.

If you're trying to achieve perfection in boxing that's the guy to watch. Unfortunatley though his era wasn't the greatest era for minimum weight so he just never had any memorable rivalries or tough fights so that overshadowed his skill level, that's why it's crucial to be ready to go out of your comfort zone and move up in weight to get the big fights. Without overcoming adversity, people won't give you the respect no matter how good you are.
