    Thor Bjornnson vs Eddie Hall

Thor Bjornnson just called out Eddie Hall to a fight in the ring. Fug Jerrell Miller these are the super heavy weights, would you watch this? On one hand I disliked it when the youtube zoomers did it but honestly I'd watch this, if only for the entertainment aspect. Oh yeah, Thor just lifted 501 kg off the floor, no big whoop.

That would surely end in a brutal KO. I usually hate the ideas of celebrity fights but I’d watch that one.

That's two big boys right there, but they'll quickly find that power lifting and strongman competitions ain't the same as fighting... if I'm any judge that mass of muscle is gonna be more a liability than anything, and ain't really gonna give you special power either. Guess it's gonna be more a charity / celeb kinda affair anyway though, doubt they'll be really looking to hurt each other.

Thor Bjornnson from what I have seen? Seems to have slightly better punching technique. Eddie Hall's body also seems to be damage due to his strongman career, too bad he retired quite early from the game.

But since Hall's retirement, I expect in some areas he is in better condition such as 'Aerobic capacity' and in general just in a better place. The actual lifestyle of being a strongman was negativity effecting his condition over the long-term, mainly because most of the strongmen seem to just want to get massive these days.

These two have been going back and forth for weeks now. For context: Eddie set the deadlift record for 500k (around 1100 lbs) in 2016. And Hafthor, "The Mountain" from Game of Thrones", just broke the record today with a lift of 501kg. BUT -- Eddie did his lift in a competition, and Thor is doing it from his home gym. So everyone's asking: does a record count if it's done outside of competition?

The problem is Strongman as a sport doesn't have one unified governing body, so there's no single authority to turn to. And Strongman has multiple world-class events: the Arnold Classic, World's Strongest Man, Ultimate Strongman. Their situation is not unlike boxing - boxing's alphabet titles make determining who is "the greatest" a murky affair at best.

As far a s fight goes, I would watch. I haven't seen Thor punching, but Hall seems to do it pretty regularly for cardio and he doesn't look too terrible. Thor's strongman career is still in its peak right now though, and there's no way I see him risking unnecessary injury when he's got titles on the line. But an exhibition/charity event? Yeah, maybe.

Also, back in the day, Strongman competitions sometimes featured a "wrestling" component. I forget what exactly they called it, but it was like a little like sumo. No on-the-ground grappling that I recall. Just like, see who can push the other guy out of the ring. They dropped that event pretty quick though, as it wasn't really much in the way of strength-testing.

Also, I remember the strongman Mariusz Pudzianowski went into an MMA career after his years in strongman. (I believe he may have boxed a little before strongman, but I won't swear to that.) His first few fights looking pretty devastating - he still had the size from his strongman competitions at that point. Once fighters realized they could tire him out, though, the hype kinda wore off. Not sure if he's still fighting.

Update: Eddie Hall says he will "1000 percent" sign the contract to fight Hafthor. So . . . maybe it's on?
