History is definitely repeating itself ,you even had Bowe dumping a belt in the garbage bin and still Lewis on the chopping block , I think only around his win over Golota did he get some recognition but ultimately it was his Mike Tyson win which was at the end and he still couldn’t claim real value of it . If one can slight him it’s his refusal of the Vitali rematch,in that aspect I think AJ will not run away from any rematches.

Nah the american media were wrose, Bruno is a favourite in the UK, it doesn't matter who he was fighting HE would get everyone ON his side. That is different to what the american media DID to lewis.

Lennox avenged his defeats in a good manner

AJ avenged his loss but took it to a neutral territory on all his own terms and never exactly made a statement in the rematch. He did what he had to do to get his belts back, fair play but legend statuses aren’t built on that kinda thing. That’s why his stock has gone down.

Lewis v Rahman is how you avenge a loss. Fury stopping Wilder is how you avenge an injustice. That’s how you gain respect.

That said, AJ often gets too much flack, but I think people do it to counter the crazy fanboys. The likes of Sky don’t help when they put up polls of the greatest heavyweights ever and include AJ in the vote of about 6 names.

In Britain, Lennox ended up with a huge fanbase. Me and my pals used to chip in for most of his PPVs. Hell, he used to bring over 5,000 to the US. It was rocky to begin with but he won most of us over pretty quickly. Let's not forget he was 12? when he left for Canada.
Many Americans hate Lewis obviously because he battered the shti out of their big hopes and historically many of them can't accept an old school whooping from a Brit. A prime Lewis is a top 3 atg HW; Ali, Lewis and dunno.

It’s lennox’s own fault. He had a chance to be Canadian, but when he got into it with Ben Johnson, he was disowned then and there. Being Canadian would have improved his chin automatically.
