GGG fanboys often criticize Canelo because they think he's supposed to cater to what they perceive as GGG's ideal timeline, when GGG from his end has never managed his career with any real urgency. He faces overmatched opponents every chance he gets and getting him to fight a top fighter can be like pulling teeth. He previously refused career high offers from Canelo for both the first two fights while demanding a co-A side split for the rematch despite never doing great A side numbers. Even comingg off the loss, his team was reportedly adamant about trying to dictate the location for the third fight during preliminary talk despite having no leverage. Now that he's holding a belt again, he has even less of an incentive. Likely a major reason this fight was going to be contested at 160 is due to GGG's reluctance to move up a single division throughout his career, including for legacy fights. The thing is, when you spend most of your career feasting on second and third rate opposition while being heaped with praise for it, that becomes your comfort zone. For most people GGG vs Shmegzema (sp?) is a garbage fight but facing nobodies for big money are the matchups he dreams about. GGG's contact with DAZN is hands down one of the worst in sports. They paid 100 million for an aging guy coming off a loss who's never been particularly ambitious.
