Comments Thread For: Spence: Crawford Fight Is Big, It Just Has To Make Sense

Errol Spence couldn't be any clearer in his desire for a welterweight superfight with Terence Crawford. A matchup between the pair of unbeaten titlists and pound-for-pound entrants remains high on the wish list of most boxing fans and among the most common matchups mentioned by boxers as the one big fight they'd like to see come to fruition. By his own admission, it's not the next fight in queue for the 30-year old southpaw from Desoto, Texas, but one that is definitely on his radar.

"I feel like (former unified welterweight titlist) Keith Thurman is just fake. "

Keef stepped up and actually FOUGHT Manny, Porter and Danny. Just sayin

Yo, Errol.. Bud is the ONLY fight for you. That's why it makes sense already, you know, to prove you are The Man at 147. Or does that not float your boat?

I am not off the Spence train. I still think he is a world class, P4P talent. But the Pac/Mayweather analogy is disturbing to me, because there is not a real boxing fan alive that will not admit that there was a fight that should have happened 3-5 years earlier than it did. Crawford has not been challenged in a fight in a long, long time. He has shown no real signs of slipping, but this mega-fight does have a sell by date and it needs to happen soon for it to be the kind of event both these men's talents set it up to be. Crawford did not make things easy by signing with Top Rank, but I have always believed that he was promised the big fights when he did. Otherwise he could have stayed a unified champion at 140 and made the same coin he is making now. But he moved up to 147 for these fights.

If Spence needs a fight to ensure he is all the way back from his car crash, that is legit. If either of these guys get Manny and the paycheck that comes with a fight with his name attached, I cannot fault that kind of decision. Otherwise, Crawford/Spence has to be made.

Wow...Citing the PAC / Floyd fight as something that “made sense”!?!? That fight was half a decade too late. Spence and Crawford are literally wasting their primes for the sake of gaining some minuscule edge, or a few extra dollars. By the time Ray Leonard was 30 he had already fought Duran twice, Hearns, Hagler, Benitez and some other solid fighters. Same resumes for The other 3 kings. What a disappointment this current generation has become when you compare the warriors from just 20 short years ago.

Spence has a new excuse everyday. He’s on the other side of the street he doesn’t have a belt it has to make sense. The winner of this fight is the man to beat and the money maker your not gonna make Floyd type money fighting gate keepers.

Dude says he wants to be Undisputed, but qualifies it with "it has to make sense".

Spence is another haymon fraud. He's buying time to continue ducking Crawford.

Haymon is at rockbottom know with Wilder exposed. Haymon will never risk his final chess piece to lose to Arum.

Spence has no intention of ever fighting Crawford just like Floyd never had any intention of facing Pac. But they have to pretend to fool the dummies.

Les Moonves is the real reason why Floyd was finall coerced into finally fighting Pac. It will take another Les Moonves type figure to coerce haymon and spence to fight Crawford.
