By the time Ray Leonard was 30 he had already fought Duran twice, Hearns, Hagler, Benitez and some other solid fighters. Same resumes for The other 3 kings. What a disappointment this current generation has become when you compare the warriors from just 20 short years ago.
Boxing is totally different now than it was back in the day. Some of you guys have to grasp that. I'm not defending Spence, Crawford, or any other fighter about this. But you guys saying they need to fight "right now" are ridiculous. What's that opinion based on? Crawford hasn't fought anybody at 147 worth a damn. Spence does appear to be the real deal. But this is NOT a fight that is actually being called upon by the world. It's not even close! The talent says this is a PPV legendary matchup. And it IS! But think about everything involved in a fight of that magnitude. A mega-fight.... the common public isn't buying this fight. Die hard fans will buy it, like myself. But in order for everyone to get paid the value of what this fight is actually worth (including promoters, trainers, fighters, etc), this fight needs be like top 10 all time in PPV buys. Because of the talent and risks involved. And it's no where even close to that! It may not crack the top 50 PPV buys at this point! That's no fault to the ability of the fighters. It's simply that they aren't big enough stars yet. More big wins will make them bigger stars. THAT is how this fight can get made. Both have to continue fighting top talent, and build it into a mega- fight in the eyes of the public. Anyone who thinks this fight is "ready" now, is either fooling themselves, or just really doesn't understand the boxing business. Period

Your probably right that the monetary value is not there
But by holding out this will be another fight that will be held five years to late and imo still won’t make much monetary sense or live up to the great boxing match it can be at the moment
These guys only fight twice a year if we’re lucky
      Bud’s already 32 ans Errol is 30
If it doesn’t happen soon enough , I just don’t need to see it , of course all this if Spence can still fight

I'm not a fan of either of these guys. Both need to step up, Spence is what, 29 now, Crawford is 32, I think about past greats and what usually a great fighter accomplished by the time they are that age. Both these guys claim they are great, the best, or at least is what they think they are and what some fans claim them to be. Personally, I think they are just good fighters from this era, to be the best, great, HOF, type of fighters, they need to not only to fight each other, but continue to fight these types of fights going forward and stop wasting their careers fighting a bunch of guys that make absolutely no sense, this match up makes sense, both guys are seeking De la Hoya, Mayweather, Chavez, Pacquiao, Canelo to name a few, type of money, but both these guys are not that type of draw because of the lack of competition in their careers, to get that type of money they need to take this fight and dangerous fights going forward, I mean all those guys I mentioned by the time they were these guys ages had already accomplished a lot. Moral of the story is Spence and Crawford will never make that type of money if they don't fight each other and continue on the track they are on, this fight is the fight that makes sense for both and everything else is just excuses on part from both men.

Great post. This fight is not ready for a successful PPV. Crawford is living off accolades at 140 in is #1 P4P rating. Spence went into Kell Brook's backyard and took his belt. He fought the rugged Porter, killed Lamont Peterson ( people were saying Peterson would trouble him).I watch both fight and I just see a different level of strength and ruggedness in Spence that Crawford has not exhibited. His skill is there but Spence is highly skilled as well. Crawford gets credit for being this cerebral boxing genius who switches hands but he was dropped by his last opponent. Crawford needs to fight a top welter. Until then he is a ? relative to the top guys at 147. Hell, I would like to see him face Mikey Garcia...someone instead of the B- level guys he has been facing. For any non casual I just don't see what Crawford has done to suggest he beats Spence. People even say they see Crawford stopping Spence and I just lmao---

Look, I'm going to try and be as respectful to your opinion as I can, what you're saying doesn't make any sense at all. This fight will never be a "top 10 all time PPV". Why would you even type that? These two will never be those types of "stars". Spence and Crawford are a couple of humble country boys that are the 2 best WW's at this time. Could the fight be bigger than where it stands today on April 12th 2020? Yes, but you know how? By actually staging the fight, the boys really get down, and a rematch is bigger than the first. Mega PPV's come along once or twice a decade, if that, and the event is not just defined by the talent. It's the personalities, and the "it" factor that drives the big event. As good as these two might be, they simply don't possess those intangibles. Even as you said, if they each go ahead and get a couple more big wins (you could argue neither has even had a big win, and their each approaching the end of their physical primes), this fight never becomes Pac - Mayweather or Tyson - Holyfield. This isn't even Oscar - Tito level. You talk about business, but you obviously don't understand investment. Invest in the fight NOW, and if it's a classic, you open doors to further riches through rematch, or other big welters jumping in the mix ala Duran / Leonard / Hearns / Benitez.
Good lord man has the Spence accident taught you anything about letting a fight "marinate"?
That said, I respect your opinion, and have a Happy Easter.

I don't take offense to opposition of my opinions. But I will explain..... the reason I said it needs to be "top 10 all-time PPV buys", is because in my opinion, this is THE biggest fight that can be made in all of boxing. Look at most P4P lists and compare weights of all those listed. Other than maybe GGG/Canelo, these are the best two fighters than can compete. You mentioned SRL/Hearns/Hagler/etc., well the Crawford-Spence fight is on that level compared to eras. It's pretty clear talent wise that these two are at the top. But mainstream America doesn't even know them! So there's no money in this fight YET. There could be. But they have to build it. Let me ask you this..... if they fought now, where does the winner go next? They'd go backwards! Say Crawford wins, and say Mikey faces and beats Pac, is a Crawford/Mikey fight the "next big thing"? Absolutely not. So you build it! Let Spence fight Danny Garcia and Crawford fight Porter (who is generally respected), and make a defacto tourney somewhat. The reason us hard core fans WANT Spence/Crawford is because we know it's going to be amazing. Amazing for all 100,000 of us that know about it. But there's still so many fights that can make it much bigger. And guess what? Both the fighters know this too! And it's the reason it hasn't happened yet. THAT is why I made this comment

To add in, my "top 10 ppv all time" was a general term. It doesn't have to literally make the top 10 selling list. But it has to be the biggest boxing event without Canelo, to get the fight made

Spence has actually convinced Crawford to stop pestering him.

"crawford fight is big", yes, it is big. it would be a fight between 2 undefeated champions who are currently regarded as the best in the division.

but this part i don't get it "It Just Has To Make Sense". what does he mean by that. doesn't fighting the best make sense anymore?

What does a Spence - DSG fight do for him, or a Crawford - Porter fight do? You think that gets these two on a loop on Sportcenter? How do you know if Spence - Crawford is on the level of Hearns/Leonard/Hagler/Duran in terms of "eras" if they never fight? The fight could be a stinker. You don't know until you actually fight. That's what the guys from the 80's understood. You said in your previous post that boxing is "totally different" now. No it's not. Men train, and fight to see who can whoop who. Maybe there's more money today, but just look at the resumes of Spence and Crawford compared to the great WW's of the 80's in relation to their accomplishments at the same age. It ain't even close my man.
