Mexican Americans would do well for themselves to be honest about who they are and why they are. Most Mexican Americans are really native Americans which is why native Americans often get confused for Mexicans. And having spent a significant amount of time in Mexico, particularly DF, most people there are fully aware of the outright racism european mexicans (who control the wealth and education) show towards meztizos and natives. Ever wonder why we don’t see those white Mexicans in the USA? And let’s not kid ourselves....a stroll through DF will revealing the well to do Mexicans look like Canelo whereas the poor one look like Marquez or Munguía. So yes, I do recognise racism against Mexican Americans but not in the way Mexican Americans want me to. I recognise that loyalty to a country that hates you is misplaced as is loyalty to a language and culture that destroyed your wonderful civilisations is also misguided. The dumbest thing ever is pride in a language....particular when it was forced on you.
