Moral of the story: If you are gifted with a chance to fight for a belt, don't stretch that into a 4-5 month time delay, make a fIght ASAP.

haney was #2 BUT IT WAS BEFORE.... HE DID NOTHING for half a year while Lopez fought 2 times.
With Lopez (actual #2) going IBF route and Campbell #1 fighting Loma WBC SHOULD HAVE NEVER given wbc interim for Haney-Sbdullaev.
They should have made him Eliminator for #1 Contender status AT BEST.

Haney is TWO TIME PAPER CHAMP OF THE WORLD!!!

This would come back to haunt him in 10 years time, people would remember that he never fought anyone before he was given the WBC belt twice.

                Wrong.

Mikey Garcia To Be Champion Emeritus, Campbell Goes For Title
"Awaiting Campbell in a forthcoming vacant title fight will be the next highest-rated available challenger. At number two is Russia’s Zaur Abdullaev, followed by Las Vegas-based unbeaten lightweight Devin Haney, who is reportedly deep in talks with Matchroom and DAZN for a multi-fight deal."

Former four division world champion Mikey Garcia is not coming back to the lightweight division, at least not now. According to ESPN Deportes, Garcia will be named by the World Boxing Council as "Champion Emeritus," so the sanctioning body's lightweight title will be vacant pending a showdown between mandatory challenger Luke Campbell and the highest ranked available contender - who will battle it out for the world title at 135 pounds.

To all calling him all sort of names, the guy is still young and so he has all the time to fight in the big fights.
