  • Comments Thread For: Parker's Manager: Junior Fa's Demands Were Stratospheric

As BoxingScene.com reported on Tuesday, the negotiations have fallen apart for a potential New Zealand grudge match between former WBO heavyweight champion Joseph Parker and undefeated contender Junior Fa. The two boxers, both rated in the top ten by the WBO, fought four times in the amateurs with each man gaining two wins.

"We're talking 10 or 20 times his biggest ever purse"

So basically you haven't got a clue of one of the figures but decide to spout anyway..

Both aren't anywhere near any sort of class so have done with it and split the purse and the winner gets the payday after...

Ok he "priced himself out". What were the numbers?? What did you offer and what did he want??
Unless he's trying to pull an Eddie Hearn and purposely low ball a fighter where the fighter will naturally declines and give what he wants and then they "price themselves out".

There was an interview on youtube with Parker & Kevin Barry. Fa wanted $500000 with his most recognizable win being a 45 year old Dominick Guinn who dropped him. Thats the money Shane Cameron got to fight Tua but Cameron was very popular in NZLD where i hear Fa isn’t...

Cheers for heads up.. I'll take a look.

With him saying 10 or 20 times his highest fee I thought it would be suspect, as that's a huge difference in numbers we could have been talking about..

            Fa lovers

it seems team Fa wanted a big chunk of cash because the chance of winning was low against A level battle tested Parker...…..they were selling there ranking basically so they wanted to be compensated, that's boxing... but if I was them I would of taken the fight for these reasons, 1} a title shot at any belt is 2 to 3 years away at best for Fa...…2}losing a hard fought dec to parker wouldn't have been shameful and only dropped his ranking at best 10 spots and every one would know his name then... 3} by winning against parker would of put him into the top 5 in every sanctioning body.... and to close on these facts, Fa may never ever get a world title shot because if he has to fight contender like, white, povetkin, chisora, Helenus, wilder, danial dubious,Pulev, ruiz, Hunter, joyce, Hergovic…….just for example, in what lifetime does he beat these guys, team Fa will regret knocking this fight back, Fa will go down as a wasted talent because his team wont take risky fights.....you heard it here first....boxing dosnt stop for non risk takers!!!!

I doubt Fa gets much more than $50000 a fight. Who has he fought? Who has he beat? They never brought up Cameron but I was just using him as an example. Cameron was headlining small events for years in NZLD & he had a good following so when he fought Tua he was a good draw in NZLD at that point. Fa hasn't drawn anywhere close to what Cameron was doing & from my understanding he isn't even that popular at home let alone anywhere else. I would say he could get $150000-20000. Parker is going to get the lion's shareof the purse. He is the A side in this fight...

I was very interested in Fa when he first debuted, but after seeing him on some You Tube clips I think Parker dusts him out hard. The guy has the look of a good boxer, but is mechanical and sluggish in the ring from what I have seen. Parker is a legit "B" level boxer that would give any top contender a fight, and Fa is not anywhere near his talent. Price himself out? I actually buy into that.

It still a big fight over there. And Fa beat Parker twice in the Amateurs if I'm not mistaken (another reason it's a big fight over there)
