That's what I'm talking about. Just because it isn't a big fight over here, it would probably be one of the bigger HW fights that NZ has had, no?

Any fight involving Parker in NZ would be big. The guys a local hero and a really nice bloke people would come out to support.

Fa, barely anyone's even heard of him locally and couldn't headline a brawl in car park.

Speaking of, if the fight were ever promoted as samoan vs tongan that's exactly what would happen.

Lots of pissed up aggy poly boys brawling in the carpark and streets after the fight.

There's still bad blood from the Tongan occupation and eventual emancipation of Samoa by violent struggle from 300 years ago.

It wouldn't be worth the risk and oilskin dont need the money or the hassle...

So Fa is only known by the die hards then? I guess they could always build up the Fa wins over Parker in the ams if they wanted. Thanks for the history though, I'll do some more reading on it. I love history like that.

Fa is only known for beating Parker twice as an amateur. Were it not for that he'd have no claim to fame; and at 30yrs old he's running out of time.

I'd like to see him in with the Joyce/Dubois winner or a battle tested gatekeeper like Takam or Baby Hughie Fury.

Pasifikan history is rich, brutal and often sad.

Stuff like the Spanish flu wiping out 1 in 5 samoans after a ship released infected passengers there.

The theft of Hawaii by American land barons who voted for the monarchy to be overthrown but naturally excluded any Hawaiians from voting.

Nuclear testing and dumping of waste in Tahiti while using them as guinea pigs for effects.

Suppression of Maori culture in NZ and confiscation of lands by dubious legal means.

The list goes on and we're still suffering in the courts, jails, health and education systems.

But for all that we're still healthy, humble and generally happy. Enough so that Joseph Parker isn't an anomaly with his good guy persona.

Just don't get us on the piss and drugs then promote a lifestyle we'll never attain.

Fake bombsquad gangsters we are not. We got long memories, short fuses and hard heads...
