Maybe he did a calculation and decided after his last performance he wouldn't beat Canelo who is the A side with the judges and the casinos unless he knocks him out. A loss to Canelo would adversely affect his earnings going forward. That's all speculation on my part. It's also interesting that Golden Boy never made a counter offer to Smith.
