How to reinstate Same Day Weigh-Ins

Well said. Some fighters are taller, faster, hit harder and that’s fine too. Half the time it’s explained that the fighter who had to cut the most is at a disadvantage. The narrative changes depending on who wins or loses. If you both weighed the same the afternoon before I think that’s as good as it can get.Comment

Yes, often cutting all of that weight and ballooning up is not an advantage, you have gotta be feeling like shit the next day as many fighters have remarked.Well said. Like I said, ideally we want well energized healthy fighters who both weigh about the same on FN.Comment

This is a sport in which men get punched in the face for a maximum 36 minutes a fight. The only safety fir boxers is to learn defense and fight in your right weight classes without cutting 50lbs per fight.
Mills lane told a story about 24 years ago when he screamed in Donald Curry for being 162 or 172 in between fights when he was at WW. What do you think Lane would say to Tank, Crawford or Canelo in present day? LolComment

Right. But then we also let fight happen that are 50/1 odds so that’s some perspective right there. All boxers would have to get on a fight night scale to get a real analysis of what the trends are. Most don’t want to do that. Especially the top guys who have all the stroke. Weight is a marketing and negotiation tool. There’s so much speculation on how much they weigh in ring. Nobody believes any boxers words either, nor should they. They all could have got weighed on fight night if they wanted. We let heavyweights wear track pants, T-shirts, sombreros, full pockets on the scales. That’s a joke. Millions are bet on these fights and you can’t even see what type of condition the fighter is looking like. How long before someone is allowed to wear a T-shirts and pants in the ring? Thick beards are now okay too. Why not wear a pair of Princes Leia braids over your temples? You can also wear your trunks as high as you want. Bring your kidney protectors up to cover legal body blows.Comment

Its always an advantage when done right, to be the bigger guy in a fight is always an advantage , thats where the 30 hr system is so full of holes, by its very nature a guy can be over 20lbs heavier because his body can withstand the greater fluid loss and gain over a guy whos body cannot .
The idea of a fair fight is to be the same size in the fight, not reality but never the less thats the premise of a fair fight.Comment

If one fighter is allowed to be faster, hit harder, be taller, longer reach, more experience, stronger chin, better coaches, paid more... then why can’t a fighter who makes weight at the same moment as the other guy be allowed to put on more weight? If it’s part of boxing then why can’t one boxer work harder at it and be better at it then his opponent? Who is allowed to be better at all sorts of things? Isnt making weight something that takes work and effort? Sucking down and Rehydrating properly so the whole affair was beneficial and not detrimental to your performance is no easy task. If anything that’s been promoted as the riskier prospect for ages. It’s hard to pull off. People move up and negotiate to rarely ever move down. The lighter fighter in the ring can often be the harder puncher. Who are all the fighters that have shown that their weight was their key advantage? Let’s not forget that a lot of the time the fighter who had to cut so hard and added a bunch of weight is they guy who is in less shape. Water weight isn’t skill, speed, stamina, power or heart. If it was so great and easy to do then everybody would do it. It’s not like people are getting on the fight night scales anywhere close to often so it’s all speculation anyway. Just cause someone says “he looks 15lbs heavier” doesn’t mean that’s even close to true. We love to exaggerate. People will always kill themselves to make weight, doing on the same days as fight night is more risk. We learned this. Plus not time for subs. “He weighed the same as you did yesterday.”Its always an advantage when done right, to be the bigger guy in a fight is always an advantage , thats where the 30 hr system is so full of holes, by its very nature a guy can be over 20lbs heavier because his body can withstand the greater fluid loss and gain over a guy whos body cannot .
