Comments Thread For: Davison: Fury Was Right, He Took Something From Wilder in First Bout

According to trainer Ben Davison, heavyweight Tyson Fury repeatedly told him that he would go for a knockout victory in the rematch with Deontay Wilder. In the first bout, in December 2018, Fury and Wilder fought to a controversial twelve round split draw.

He took his confidence in the first fight then his dignity and soul in the second.

Wilder is not the smartest person. I think before Fury-Wilder 1, he (and his trainers, friends, followers) had made himself out to be some mythical superhuman creature with the power of 10. He had started to believe in his own hype (as evidenced by Wilder's comments regarding Mike Tyson etc) - that was not "selling the fight" - he actually believed what he said.

When Fury came back from those knockdowns in the first fight - especially the second KD - with guns blazing, that shattered Wilder's perception of himself. And obviously the TKO in the second fight only added to that (although I actually think the first fight - i.e., the loss of confidence in his own KO power - was psychologically worse for Wilder than the TKO).

I wish Wilder well - that includes, first and foremost, a realistic trainer, promoter, and fan base who acknowledge defeat in the last fight, instead of being delusional about it by looking for absurd excuses; who try to work on his obvious technical deficits, and think of a meaningful strategy. Otherwise the third fight will be a disaster.

So no mention of the illegal Left glove of Tyson Fury had on but he did all he said he would do and he will do the same 3rd fight ???

So we will expect a cheating Fury again 👌

I can see why Fury fired Davison. He seems to be all about self-promotion.

He hasn't even done much in boxing himself yet.

Anybody talking bout gloves you should watch the fights again and quit cryin like a btch. Wilder got destroyed and hasn't been the same since the 1st fight. Are all wilder fans just like wilder? Straight bthches?

Wilder's corner inspected the gloves beforehand and he came over after to congratulate Wilder on a good fight. His team said nothing and had pressed no charges of cheating. But you, from your armchair, can see something that Wilder couldn't or the officials or anyone else? All gloves are inspected just before they get in the ring. There's no cheating, he just lost. Come on now.
