You can't do that in boxing because of the Muhammad Ali Act, which to reasons only known to [White] doesn't apply to the UFC. Why? I don't know

One of the primary reasons that Congress introduced the law was that professional boxing is not governed by any league, association, or any form of an established organisation like the majority of other professional sports.

The same cannot be said for UFC, which is de facto like a governing organisation. You can argue that UFC is simply the leading promotor vs (say) Bellator, but this is analogous to what used to exist with the NBA vs the ABA (or not entirely different to the two major leagues in baseball which operated as separate en****** for decade and decades, but were still considered governing organisations).

UFC is not the governing body for MMA. Its a business, a promotional entity. White is able to make the fights he wants in UFC due to the nature of the contracts the fighters have to sign.

He could definitely be a player considering his profile and connections, but all this talk of how hes going to come in and "fix" boxing etc is ridiculous. Boxing promotion is an absolute shark tank in comparison.

And Major League Baseball or the NBA isn't a business? It isn't a promotional entity? Saying x is able to make the events they want due to the nature of the contracts they sign with y is trivially obvious.

Once upon a time there was the NBA and there was the ABA. And then the NBA took over the ABA. But before that happened, the NBA's relationship to the ABA was somewhat analogous to UFC and Bellator. They were competing organisations in one sport.
