Not trying to be an after-timer but I did expect Mayweather to win easily purely from a stylistic viewpoint. Due to the size advantage and Marquez being a counterpuncher I just couldn’t see how he’d trouble Floyd and I’m a big fan of JMM.

I wanted him to face Mosley who had just destroyed Margarito, Pacquiao (obviously) or Cotto who’d just won the WBO strap I think. I would have still picked Mayweather to beat all three though.

Mayweather-JMM was more like 80-20 in favor of people not wanting to see the fight. Mayweather got a lot of credit after the fact though, after JMM had two good performances at WW vs Pacquiao. I also felt JMM fought to a draw vs Bradley.
I think it was little later than Dec because Mosley-Berto only got cancelled in January I think. After that we all knew it was gonna be Mayweather-Mosley on Cinco De Mayo.

Unless it was signed before and they were assuming Mosley would win, I remember a lot of peopled favoured Berto though who has being hyped as a Mayweather clone at the time.

Thinking about it I would compare it to Spence-Mikey in the sense that we knew both were elite fighters so we were interested in watching it, however we just couldn’t see the naturally smaller man being able to overcome the odds.

A big counter puncher will always beat a little counter puncher. And their fights against each other will always be boring.

Nothing "fell apart". Pacman refused drug testing. That's a duck on his part and suggestive of PED use.

The fight was fine...at 144. Then Floyd didnt make weight and it went up to 147. Kind of spoiled the win, but it was clear weight would never be a factor.

            For 1st fight in almost 2 years...decent

The earthquake in Haiti caused Berto to withdraw. Mosley fresh off his in the ring challenge in Floyd's September win over JMM was ready to fight Floyd in May.

Great fight as Mosley nearly succeeded in KD although even if Floyd went down he was always going to win. Too much intensity and heart. And he won rounds 3-12. Nazzim shouldve stopped that as Mosley took some big shots down the stretch

Which is why I give Floyd little credit for beating JMM and Spence almost zero credit.

Floyd was coming off a 20 month layoff at least. Spence was fighting a legitimate midget and was pretending this fight was his claim to fame...embarrassing.

I had no problems with the fight.
Yes Marquez was coming up in weight, so what? It's not like he didn't eventually move up to that weight anyways.

People were just mad that Floyd wasn't fighting Manny....and when Floyd finally did fight Manny, they made excuses about Mannys shoulder

You have to give them some credit based on how both opponents went on to perform at 147 when Floyd and Spence beat them easily.

Look what Marquez did to Pac at 147 or the trouble he gave Pac and Bradley at 147 in other fights.

Garcia just beat Jessie Vargas at 147 which is a solid win but I do agree he is simply too small for 147.

I remember Manny excuse was he was scared of needles, and when they asked him about his tats, all of a sudden Manny couldnt speak English.
