Floyd was coordinated enough and barely fast enough to establish enough distance to catch him coming inside, with his 72 in reach. I also don't think Marquez will fair well with a stonger, more physical brawler. Didn't Hatton stop Paulie? That was something Cotto couldn't do..
They highly overrated marquez because he has a win over pac at the highter weights. But that was it.

He was largely unsuccessful and unproven at the higherweights with the exception of the pac Fight whom he got his number against.

Many even choose marquez over cotto at WW FFS.

That was prime floyd we talking about the same guy who easily schooled marquez 2 years later. And carried him to full 12.

Floyd got his hands full in that hatton fight but was just to good to dart his right hand missiles in between. He can also handle hattons wrestling inside which was very impressive.

The version of hatton after that yes marquez can beat that..
But we talking about the prime version.

Unless this is a pound for pound fantasy matchweight where they are equal and size then marquez probably wins. As the size, and power advantage for hatton goes out the window.

But basing on reality. Marquez will be in deep waters against the hatton that floyd fought.. will pressure him relentlessly outsized him, outwrestle.

i gotta go with marquez. he seemed to always do better against guys like salido, katsidis, diaz and not that they were easy as those guys never are and hatton would probably be the biggest challenge but marquez is super tough. not sure i've ever seen him deal with a clinch wrestler fighter though and that could disrupt him so its hard to say

I pretty much got it the same way and like you highlighted the only thing would be never having witnessed him fight a wrestler
I still think he would catch Hatton in the end and get a ko
That though has much more to do with Hatton getting careless and leaving himself open

I don't think Hatton ever stops Marquez, but I think pre-Pac Hatton would beat him.

I think marquez beats hatton in a fun fight . There would be some back and forth action but I think marquez would beat hatton up on the inside and hurt him with some big counters

It would kind of look like this...

                  https://********/3v6cpfF8D_U

Marquez gets to show his full display of offense against a come forward, hugging bum like Hatton.

Hatton gets Juan Diaz’d but worse. He gets caught with a swift combo on his way in and gets knocked the *** out so hard he be convulsing on the floor like an infantile r3tard.

Had it happened prime vs prime I think it’s a very competitive fight, in which Marquez would come through some scares and manage to win a decision.

Had it happened in 2010 when it was rumoured, Marquez would’ve won easily.

Interesting match up, Hatton was technically great by any means but he was extremely fit and often put on a pace that his opponents struggled with, however he did come straight forward and although he had some head movement he never had the best defence, I think Marquez initially struggles with the pressure and pace early rounds and might even get dropped but adjusts and catches and ultimately breaks down Hatton in the later rounds.
