    A while back,
Wilder, AJ, Parker and Ortiz were the big upcoming names in the division.

If anything its the opposite he constantly gets downplayed because it'd mean giving Wilder credit.

As much as I don't rate Wilder he deserves props for taking those fights and winning despite getting his head boxed off for almost every moment of both fights. He took risks nobody else had the balls to.

Ortiz isn't the best and his best days are behind him but he's still a very dangerous fight for any HW and presents a real risk which is why he's been avoided.

Ortiz is a skilled boxer. He has ample power but lacks speed. Endurance was the reason he came up short against Wilder in the first fight. He's 40+ years old and this is his biggest handicap.

Why does a world champion deserve to get credit for taking on a decent challenge?

Have we become so accustomed to Arreola's, Szpilkas, Washingtons, Stivernes and Molinas that when he actually fought a decent guy it seems amazing?

He literally just fought a good contender, who was a good bum slayer like many others before him.

He worked his way into the top ten before the majority of top tens and stayed there.

Ortiz was already past his prime the first time he fought Wilder...

Is there even a high reward in the division other than the top 2 or 3?

you talking about wilder here? he ducked joshua who was the best guy in the division at the time and went after bloated and coked up fury(his words) also ortiz chose to fight wilder instead of joshua twice so i dont know where you are getting your info from. he was mandatory to both and chose wilder. he was offered 7 million or whatever it was to fight joshua and haymon the idiot decided to match it. he was also offered a fight against whyte but said he wasnt ready then fought on the same date. so thats 2 guys that were willing to take the same risks as wilder. you said nobody. not true.
