Crawford-Brook is a terrible matchup.

So it’s basically the “he’s on the other side of the street” issue again which is complete BS for me. Arum and haymon can make wilder-fury but can’t make this lolI can kind of see both sides. From Spence’s perspective obviously he’s going to be pushed towards fighting the Porter’s, DSG’s, Thurman’s, Pacquiao’s etc as they are in house fights and I can’t really complain with that because they are all good matchups and it does make sense from a business standpoint.
Then Crawford is rightfully loyal to Bob who’s navigated his career very well, but is obviously frustrated that’s he’s on the outside looking in, but as much as I sympathise with his situation he must’ve knew this was likely when he signed an extension with TR in 2018.
As a fan I just wanna see the best two welterweight’s in the world face off like Leonard-Hearns did in 81, but there’s so much f***ing politics nowadays cause of networks, promoters, advisers, managers etc. Seeing Fury-Wilder 2 at least restores some optimism that these sort of fights can be negotiated.
Spence can demand to his promoter for the fight, they talked face to face already and spence could tell bob right there “let’s make the fight sir” instead saying “you on the other side of the street bro”
I don’t think spence is scared or anything but he just doesn’t do anything towards making that fight even when it’s for his legacy.
So extension or not, it’s BS excuse.
Floyd and pac happened after floyd said for 6 years that he’s not gonna work with arum.
So my guess is spence-crawford happens soon as crawford losses a step. And it’ll be very easy fight to make and arum doesn’t even have to do anything.Comment

Wilder didn’t have the options Spence has though. So it’s basically the “he’s on the other side of the street” issue again which is complete BS for me. Arum and haymon can make wilder-fury but can’t make this lol

Fury-Wilder was a far bigger fight than Wilder vs any of the PBC HW’s.
Spence-Crawford isn’t far bigger than Pacquiao-Spence for example, it’s probably not as big as Pac-Spence tbh.
I think both fighters want it but the team behind Spence have a specific plan and Crawford fight is toward the end of it.
It’s sh***y for the fans as it’s probably the most interesting matchup in the sport.Comment

These threads about Crawford are always as confusing as fk.
On one hand they say Bud hasn't fought anyone of note.
On the other, they say he's the best welter invention since sliced bread.
Which is it? Make up your minds brothas.
Who did he beat that Brook is such a terrible fight? Gamboa?Comment

It’s the manner in which he’s beat guys...These threads about Crawford are always confusing as fk.

Viktor Postol gave an elite fighter in Josh Taylor a really tough fight, Crawford dominated him.
Jeff Horn gave an elite fighter in Pacquiao a really tough fight, Crawford dominated him.
It’s really not that complicated.Comment

And what makes you think Crawford wants Brook?
Brook has been stalking him and Bud hasn't had any definitive response.
First time he was asked about Brook he quickly and irritatingly retorted,
"I'm not fighting in the UK."
Which means he's so used to fighting Lundy-level opponents
that anyone tad better is a threat.
What makes he think the fight will be held in the UK?
He's the A-side and he knows the venue would be his call.Comment

Just a damn shame, the way this shit turns out. Never gonna fault a guy for making sure he's financially rewarded, but this schism across boxing between the various networks is just depressing like you say.
Ultimately the bulk of the talent at 147 lies with PBC and Bud's unlikely to ever get the kinda solid top 10 opponents he really needs to boost his resume unless he works with 'em. I always hesitate to judge cos we just don't know what's going on behind the scenes, but if the Porter fight was a genuine possibility I feel he shoulda jumped on that one. Other than that it's just waiting for the Spence fight to materialise, if it ever does..
In the meantime, well, Kell's a name at least, even if a faded and slightly tarnished one.. and unlike the TS I still reckon that Kell will be able to give a reasonable account of himself... but I can't see him winning, so I'm seeing this as more of the same, another kinda filler fight, whilst we wait for the one we really want.Comment
