I believe Floyd was a smarter caliber fighter than most give him credit for. One of his best assets was career managing.

2006-2008 Margarito could’ve been a completely bad match up for Floyd.

I could see Marg getting pot shotted by Floyd for the first 4 rounds all around the ring, but Marg eventually walking him down, stalking him, sort of how he did Cotto first fight. Eventually beginning to hurt Floyd with body shots and constant pressure. And then possibly pulling a TKO victory, or maybe a 12 rd. split decision by Floyd.

We’ll never know now.

not easy at all since margarito was robbed in that fight lol. i dont see how you could have santos ahead in that one.

as for your other point about manny-marg i dont think that was prime marg and also manny has power to keep marg hesitant. just like mosley had. comparing marg to baldomir? baldomir was short and small and had a basic skillset. marg was huge, tall, threw more punches, and threw from all angles and all types of punches. also if you actually watch the baldomir fight baldomir cornered floyd quite regularly but floyd used his defense to avoid most of the shots. im not sure floyds defense would be as effective since margs punches come from all over. its not just a jab and right hand like baldomir throws. maybe floyd could clinch him up like mosley did but mosley is much bigger than a 2006 version of floyd so maybe not.

Yeah but Manny was an offensive onslaught and Margarito was already out of his prime at the time.

That was still an absolutely amazing and entertaining performance by Manny tho.

no he didnt. go check the round by rounds. almost everyone had margarito winning. he wouldnt lay a glove on him? yeah that sounds realistic.
