Canelo is the most boring "face of boxing" ever.

Very shallow criticism. Canelo is one of the most well rounded fighters you'll find and he's fought top fighters who possess every style. He can be measured at times, but he's also willing to mix it up and for the past few years he's been the one pressing the action against bigger men.

I find it funny when people say the only way to beat Canelo is to knock him out, when not only do you rarely see opponents try to take him out, they're typically uncharacteristically tentative because his defense and hard counters limits the risks they're willing to take-- and that applies to hard punching guys like Kovalev and GGG. Against Canelo, you'll have guys opt to stay busy mostly with jabs and arm punches while getting outpower punched, like they're just hoping to tread water and make it to the scorecards. Then some biased folks will act surprised over judges making a distinction between arm punches and power shots.

For the GGG rematch, Canelo allowed team GGG to have a hand in picking the judges including signing off on the pro-GGG judge's return, then proceeded to beat him at his own standards and in the style of fight he called for-- and yet, he's willing to give GGG another shot. I'm not sure what more you can ask from him unless you somehow expect him to just stand in front of his opponents flat footed and defenseless.

ummn I dont think so, I dont think I watched 1 fight he was in where I wasnt entertained.

The Lara fight was pretty bad and I usually favor watching boxers

Alvarez is a very skilled fighter in very competitive big fights

IT was entertaining to me, everyone was saying how canelo wont be able to out box Lara etc etc and then canelo chased and beat lara down systematically.

I don't find him at all boring. He's improved over time and it shows in his defense and movement and other subtleties.

I'm not a Canelo fan but i think the fact that he can't speak english is an issue. If people actually understood what he says when he talks trash, talks in interviews, etc..i think people would pay more attention.

As for the face of boxing thing, i'm not sure if there is a face of boxing right now. When anyone mentioned boxing, you always thought of Floyd and his flashiness, arrogance, confidence, he was the bad guy.

There are no bad guys in boxing right now, nobody that you would love to see get his ass kicked. No huge trash talkers and nobody that gets your blood boiling. Too many guys smiling and quiet at press conferences, not enough trash talk or emotions. At the Fury-Wilder 2 prefight, they didn't let them faceoff or something because they were worried about fighting or some ****? Let them ****ing riot before the fight, add some energy and intensity to the fight.

Sure, they finish it in the ring but as fans, i think we all like to see trash talk and some drama leading up to the fight. Just not enough of that anymore. Just my opinion.

Canelo is not boring in the ring at all . Hes an exciting fighter . Maybe he seems boring outside the ring because he diesnt soesk english and doesnt get as much mainstream exposure outside of the ring in the US and Canada outside of maybe texas and cali . I mean I respect champions who are fairly quiet outside of the ring and keep their life out of media . That's all drama . Unfortunately it's what sells these days . But inside the ring canelo is far from.boring imo .
